Co-pilot opportunities

Hetman, I guess you confuse arriving to work actually prepared with showing up and using the phrase "i was a captain on a boeing for 27 years" in lieu of being equipped for said flight as being arrogant. All I am stating are my personal experience with some guys that thought that just because they slept through the last 15 years of their career with out cracking a book at xyz airline they could just half heartedly mosey in and be a captain anywhere. All the while blowing wads of cash on type ratings because they aren't any good at golf so they decide to "work".

Do us all a favor and stay retired.
Stay home and play with your toys or join a service group and/or get a hobby but stay retired.
There are plenty of guys trying to break into the biz and by guys like you that have retired but willing to take a part-time job or even a lower paying fulltime job, you are screwing the guys trying to move up.
Stay retired....you'll be happier that way.

Bunch of young "occupiers" whining that the world owes them.... the World. Masspilot just wanted some intel and you **** all over someone who probably helped all pilots by going on strike for better work rules, pay, benefits, etc. You young guys need to be thankful for the oldtimers, not resentful. Get a life!
I do not feel I'm entitled to anything except for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I want the chance to bust my ***, so that I can prepare for the future. Unfortunately, the baby boomer generation HAS fallen short helping to prepare this country for their childrens' future. I would never in a million years think of leaving obscene amounts of debt for my children to pay off. I'd rather be responsible by living within my means. But, you know the saying . . . You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

In addition, many of those who benefitted from age 65 are from the same group who have been selling out scope by the bucket load over the last decade.
Nice legacy to leave!

Although I do agree that their is some entitlement mentality out there, which is not ok, there are also many young professionals who worry everyday about how they are going to provide, as well as survive in retirement. The greed that is shown by some of you "old farts" astonishes me. 40 years to save for retirement, pensions, and SS, during some of the best years this country has ever seen isn't enough for them.

Wow....I can't believe the self-entitled people on this forum. Apparently nobody here ever learned anything from their elders in the industry. Also, I guess the lot of you are never planning on aging and one day being on the other end of this. I didn't know they invented a perpetual youth cream, I guess I should invest. By the way, before any assumptions are made, I am 32 years old, a regional pilot, this is my second career, and I know NOTHING is owed to me because I worked for every opportunity. And if I can still find the drive to keep working when I am 65 then I will. Too many self entitled youth these days, I swear......

They buy their kids pilot licenses, too. Those kids are then loosed upon the world expecting their every whim and desire to be immediately accommodated because that is all they know. Then, when the old guy won't get out of their seat they throw a grocery store meltdown because that has always worked in the past.
It's not their fault, though. The kids have been conditioned since birth. To learn that what worked with the parents doesn't work in the world is a steep learning curve indeed. What a terrible disservice was done to this generation by their overprotective, overindulgent parents.
Not to mention the disservice done to the world by loosing this generation upon it..

Being under 40 I am of the opinion that the current generation in power has done our generation no favors. Our taxes are going up and our benefits will go down, we'll pay into SS but will not get any money back. I see a lot of pilots who have made over 200K for the last ten years, have a pension with their current company, have SS coming and have a government pension and are still working past 60. I often ask myself why they are doing this and if it were me if I would still be doing it. Not being there I can't say. If you want to work then work I guess, I just don't get the point, why did you work so hard if you aren't going to retire? What is the difference in a sense of entitlement of someone wanting a job and someone who is entitled to work past 60? I've read opinions that if the government had take all their stimulus money of the past 3 years and just paid people in their 60's to retire we'd now be in a much better position with 5% growth and much lower unemployment.
