You do realize those "retirement jobs" would never exist had the profession only been filled with people like you.
Never make a stand for anything. Just take the quickest and easiest route to what you want.
Disgraceful.

CrackPipeOvht: You may be surprised that instead of a fast upgrade you get a fast furlough or termination. Been there done that, furloughed after four months on the job and asked to come back AS A NEW HIRE less than 30 days later. Its a normal occurence at that place. One of the captains I flew with has been there 7 years with four furloughs under his belt. Oh and rumor around the crew room is that the profit margin on the passenger ops is too small for the new ownership combined with the new rest rules going into effect for passenger operators will equal the end of their passenger ops meaning shrinkage and furloughs.
Alphonso: I literally laughed out loud when I read that. You better stay on your MD-11 or go do passenger ops.

USA Jet is a tough decision, no doubt. For anyone who already has a job and a seniority number at a regional it is hard to give up the "cushy airline job" with the union contract for a On Demand/Non-Schedule. You think reserve at a regional is bad? Whitlow does not apply here. For me, I would clean toilets in the airplane if it meant a quick upgrade. I want to work at the least desirable airline possible until I make my final move to my retirement job. The less desirable, the quicker people move on once they get their time. At a regional, too many captains get comfortable and never leave.

No problem.
I have seen what can happen trying to chase an upgrade. I went to a regional that was upgrading as soon as you met the ATP standards thinking of a fast upgrade. Things changed and I stayed near the bottom of the seniority list for three and half years until I was furloughed. I would hate to see you leave seniority at a regional to go to USA Jet. If you were unemployed I would say go for it but there is a ton of uncertainty right now. Just my 2 cents.

Don't continue to harm our profession with a me first attitude that undermines what the rest of us have built and are losing...
