You're right and management knows it and the work rules make that pay scale look generous.
Sw FO yr 1 is now $77/hr. Plus you only have to work 15 days a month to credit 90. That's guaranteed.

SWA had to to attract and retain people. Xtra will too as they will become a training ground. If Eastern were to shut down it would solve Xtras crisis. It's always been supply and demand. You can bash every major airline too for B scale and all the regional jets flying around at lower wages. Don't remember the big push by the majors to stop pay for training in the early 90s. Doesn't Delta and Hawaiian make you put yourself up in training unlike so many others? Yet people keep applying. Are those individuals lowering this bar as you say?

Please keep in mind all the other low bar carriers you would possibly call too;

Atlas
Kalitta
WGA
Swift
ATI
ABX
Southern
AJT

People lining up for all these places not just Xtra.

You're right SW raised 1st yr pay more than any other years just to attract pilots and keep up with the other majors 1st yr pay. I don't think that individual pilots lower any bar by applying, that person has to do what's right for themselves.

You are wrong Oooo. I am not saying they are staying very long but you do have to admit for people living in South Florida it's a great way to get large jet time and then move on. IBC, Silver and the likes, will be a source of pilots for some time. I personally think Easterns days are numbered and Xtra could take the whole operation or certainly a lot of pilots. Yes, I know what you are going to say again, MIA airlines all suck. Well, not everyone will get a chance at playing for the Yankees. Hope you got yours just don't forget the rest that never will.

How many days off per month do you average at Xtra?

Is the commute to and from work done on your days off?

13 days off per month (with some minor exceptions). Bid lines are now constructed on a two month cycle. You can take all your days off in one stretch, or break it up. Technically, you still owe the company 18 days every month; how you choose to do it is your business.

Travel days are mostly on your first day on/last day. They may call you and ask, politely, if you could come a day earlier for operational necessity.

On the flip side, a trip may end late on your last day on. They will get you home as soon as possible. You do have a vote in this process, I.e., when and where.
