Interview on the 19th
Good afternoon,
I had a phone interview on Monday and received a phone call late Friday with an invitation to an interview on Nov 19th. I was told this would be the last interview date of 2014. I've read all the Omni blogs I can find but have a couple questions (for now). My only instructions were arrive on the 18th and don't arrange a flight out before 5pm on the 19th. So, if someone recently interviewed and hired can answer these questions, I would much appreciate it...
1. Interview is in Tulsa. Where do you stay and how far from the interview site. I presume the interview is at the airport on Sheridan Rd. Will it be possible to catch a 6pm departure home? Will everything be wrapped up in time?
2. I've heard that it is your job to lose if you get invited to an interview. Can anybody address the percent of people not offered a job? Can you surmise for what possible reasons?
3. Any particular tricks to the sim part of the interview? Is the sim touchy? I've read one report of the profile. Could someone elaborate or add anything regarding the profile?
4. Any feel for whether any older guys (+50) are getting hired?
5. How long post interview does it take to get offered a job? And post offer, what is a typical wait for a class?
I'm sure I have more questions but for now, that will do. I would really like it if one of you current employees would be willing to field my future questions especially about how bids/assignments work?
Thanks for any replies,

The interview process changes on a regular basis....You will get a short written ATP type question test. If in Tulsa a table top type flying device simulator check...They are not looking for flying precision, but more situational awareness and execution. A panel interview will consist of someone from flight operations and HR....Typical questions, "why Omni, tell us about yourself, and are you prepared to be away from home for extended periods"...Tell them you want to fly international helps...The flight operations side has more input on selection than in the past, and they look for someone who's not only good, but going to get along with current pilot group...All types get hired, but the pilots having the least trouble in training are the hard IFR turboprop pilots....Simulator training depending on fleet is tough...The B-777 side mirrors The Boeing syllabus and the B-767 side is more in house style of training...Instructors are good, but expect you to be prepared and have expectations that you don't need to be taught basic flying skills....Don't worry about lack of international experience...Omni will train you, but be prepared that it's a lot of information and additional procedures during OE...Training failures are happening, so if your weak at flying and have a job, you better think about your decision. Mediocrity does not cut it during training at Omni. Recently a former whale driver and B-777 experienced captain washed out during OE on the B-777...
You don't see a lot of Omni Pilots post on here because we're not that kind of pilot group...As long as the owners want an airline, Omni will outlast most of it's competitors do to their business model...Hope this helps...

Everywhere I've flown, the hotel has had internet, even Mexico.
Please excuse my ignorance, but are some hotel locations Omni flies to don't have internet?
Being gone 20 days a month is hard enough. I couldn't stand not being able to Skype or Facetime my wife & kids.

I'm not a long haul pilot, but I've been there-done that, flew thousands of hours on backside of clock, can handle the tired thing, yadda yadda

Yes, over half my class was over 50.
Good luck in the interview, I'm sure you already have the job!

Thanks to all for the feedback I'm getting regarding my upcoming interview. As an optimist, I expect it to go well and I look forward to meeting many of you in the future. And dutch747, yeah, I know there is internet just about everywhere. :-)
