I'm not saying it great or even good. I'm just saying you can't blame a regional pilot for coming to work here. Life is just as crappy here as it is at a regional. If you throw in having to commute for a regional especially on days off, gateway travel beats that any day of the month. Yea, I know, I know, we can be help out too and lose days off but those usually don't happen every month. I am by no means trying to compare it to the almighty Atlas where you work, any mid-major, or major. I'm just saying it's better than being an FO at a regional. But that could just be for me, personally. The pay is about the same or more in a lot of cases, don't have to commute, and you get world experience as apposed flying from A to B, back to A to C, back to A to B, back to A to D for an over night.

Again, not saying it's the best but better than some.

It's a public forum. Anyone can post anywhere they wish. I used to work for Omni, and my posts here are based on personal experience. Your posts in the Atlas thread are not.

I used to be an AAWW shareholder...I love Atlas because they made me a lot of money, but I will tell you this Atlas guys...Your living in a house of cards. Here are some of the financials, 30% of Atlas shareholders are holding it short. The CEO is starting to sell his shares, not because he needs the money...if you notice it's in small amounts...That is an old insider trader trick before the big sell off..capital reinvestment costs are are being shown as investments to the shareholders...last time I looked it was at 1.7 Billion...it's a deferred debt, but when payment is due that's going to hurt...That's just a few of the tricks that keep the books looking good for investors...And that's a monkey on the back on management that has to be keep feed, so airplanes have to move regardless of margins...And how are your negotiations going with the company?...I wish the pilot group the best on getting everything they ask for...but management has a plan and it's not reactionary in nature, so if you do get what you want in the negotiations I would be really worried about the longevity of the job...House of cards...

But what do I know I'm just a Pilot?

I know a few ex NAA guys and fortunately they don't share your disdain for Omni. They also posses something you don't, employment at Omni.

There's not much in life that bothers me but leave the entitlement attitude to the younger generation, you're supposed to be a role model!
Your right I am a little bitter towards them, and no it didn't show. I was offered at least an interview but decided that Crap pay and schedule for a job I did 4 months ago for twice the money wasn't a good choice.
I'm getting over all this and moving on but it sucks that people are willing to do this job for peanuts.

I think you're right. It would be half the money. Since you describe yourself as "757/767 Captain", and Omni, assuming they did hire you, would be as "757/767 FO

And you expected Omni to hire you as a Captain??? They don't hire street captains anymore, and there are quite a few well qualified FO's who have been there a while who are waiting to upgrade..

I really don't see how you could be bitter towards a company whose pilot contract utilizes its seniority list for upgrades now.... Sounds like you are bitter at the wrong company... Omni didn't do anything wrong towards you. Last I checked NAA's pay wasn't stellar either.

Maybe you're right. I have no idea. All I know is that ~50 airplanes here are very busy, there's strong diversification in the fleet, and there are consistent quarterly profits (the benefit of working for a publicly traded company is that we actually know that). I just work here beyond that. I've heard the "Atlas is a house of cards" statement from Omni guys before, usually right after "Atlas is a lateral move."

Negotiations don't open for another year and a half, so negotiations aren't going.

And guys, I'm really not trying to sit here and pick on Omni or anyone still over there. I have many friends still working over there.

The issue is, nobody at Atlas thinks we're Delta. We know we have work to do on our next contract if we hope to get close. On the other hand, plenty of people at Omni think they're already on par with everyone else, so you'll get more of the same the next time around. Be realistic about what this first CBA gives you.
