It doesn’t really matter who agrees with me and who doesn’t because there are many facts in the post I made.
- The 4 “commuter” rooms we get will ALWAYS be denied in the future unless they fit the exact language of LOA which is before a trip. This is a recent change in the last few weeks and it no longer matters what manager you get. All managers have been instructed not to approve commuter rooms unless they fit the exact language of LOA 8.

Hopefully with contract negotiations starting in the fall we will be able to change the wording of the commuter hotels to allow the use of the hotels as you desire.

Flying at CommutAir
It is interesting to see a persons experience with a company compared to another's. While I can not speak for others, I can provide information on how it has been for me. First, reserve was less than two months and even when on reserve, I flew all the time. In a month, I can count how many days I spent waiting in the crew room on one hand. In fact days on reserve that I didn't have any flying were only around 3.
The 4 commuter rooms per month are important to me, as I commute into Dulles (IAD) from Orlando (MCO). Even with this challenging commute, I have never missed getting to work or getting home. Of course, there were times where it took a few flights to get where I needed. In May, I did not need to use all 4 commuter rooms and in three months, I have only paid 4 hotel rooms out of pocket. There was never a need for a crash pad.
Again, I can not speak for others, but I have found scheduling and management to be very easy to work with and have never had a commuter room denied. Feel free to email or PM me with questions.

Just want to add my experience....I know its different from on person to another here at CommutAir and maybe I got lucky my whole time but overall I have to give my time at CommutAir a thumbs up. I have been here for about 4 years and three months. Started with 900 hours and have built up to about 3900 hours. Upgraded after 1 year and 8 months (I know its longer now) and in the 2 and a half years as a captain have over 1500 hours turbine PIC. Granted I do live in base and really tried to pick up as much flying as I could. (isn't that the point of the regionals....to build you hours and move on as quick as possible?) and I did have to pretty much sit reserve for over 2 years as a captain which kinda sucked but that time seems to be dropping for other people. I have a class with a major coming up in a couple weeks and KNOW I will look back at my time at CommutAir with good memories, mostly because of the amazing pilot group. When I started at CommutAir things were awful. I was only making $19/hr and no contract so when I say things have gotten better believe me! Can things get even better?...of COURSE they can and hopefully with the contract negotiations coming up things will. But at least for me it worked out the way it should....less than 5 years at a regional and then on to a Major. =)

The only reason people responded the way they did to your original post was because the way you described the situation. You painted a picture that made it seem like CommutAir was going against the contract, which is false. You get up to four hotels per month to use the night before a trip or block of days on. Yes, it was nice that they started to offer it during the middle of a reserve block but unfortunately they are falling back to the exact wording of the LOA. You get up to four hotels to use the night before a block of days on. This was signed in. That is a fact.
Hopefully with contract negotiations starting in the fall we will be able to change the wording of the commuter hotels to allow the use of the hotels as you desire.

I never said they were going against the contract. People like you read what you want. If you go back and look I said that they were denying rooms unless they fit the "contractual language". I also stated they would be enforcing the contract to a T because of upcoming negotiations, so please enlighten me, where did I say they were going against the contract? They aren't. I was just letting people know the details about our great commuter policy and why they shouldn't "skip the crashpad" like CommutAir advertises.

Tallflyer123 seem to be angry at the fact that he didn't read the contract before voting yes to it. The company is only following your contract with them. If you want to be able to get a commuter room all the time, contact your union to change the contract language. Yes reserve does suck sometimes but this is not across the board, speak for yourself, not everyone will commute. If you hate being here so much no one is holding you hostage, you can leave and go to another regional and complain about the same things.

Ya, or not. Not sure why everyone is fixing on that one thing. I am telling it like it is. Not as CommutAir advertises it. Also, we didn't vote on LOA 8 for your information, so don't tell me I didn't read it before I wasn't allowed to vote on it. You all need to do your research before you talk. Check out those 7 to 10 cancelled flights per day. Those are "pulldowns" issued by United, requested by CommutAir, because CommutAir cannot staff. Again, just letting everyone know the truth, because according to you guys it's just all rainbows and butterflies.

You're right I'm sorry we did vote for LOA 8. It was LOA 6 I was thinking of that got pushed through with no vote. Anyways, Again I am just trying to inform people. I'm not mad about anything just trying to clarify some things especially the confusing way CommutAir markets and advertises our commuter policy.
