Losing Delta and New Opportunities

Whatever the case with Compass, the overall pilot demand situation still is tilting more heavily in favor of pilots than it has for decades. Compass had the advantage because “we are west.” But if they lose that, they are going to have to compete economically with the guys that put you on reserve in places like Newark.

This is why I am not running scared - holding my bet and looking forward to a fall class start. Then if I need to make a change I still have the training event / type all the same as what originally brought me to compass. Heck even if I changed my bet it's still after the new year for any class date so I might as well keep my cards close for now.

I was concerned about a CA shortage too, but I was wrong. As of September they’ll have 50 reserve CA’s in LAX alone sitting around. Summer schedules only had me doing 30 hours a month, and that’s when we only had like 28 reserves. Unless there’s fleet growth that outpaces the delta stuff (which won’t happen), we’ll be fine on CA’s. Attracting FO’s may become an issue for a while.

50 captains is two and a half months attrition at the OLD rates, before everybody started dropping apps and working other options. We’ll burn through the excess fast unless management can prove there is a future here. And we are still thin in the FO ELIGIBLE for upgrade department. Won’t take many of those deciding to take the DEC signing bonus and upgrading elsewhere to put us in a deep hole. Especially if the company is unwilling or unable to budge on the company mins for the RATP and low ME time guys.
