I've flown with the captain on that flight, good guy with a ton of airline experience, I think the E175 is the smallest plane he's flown in quite a while. Not to toot Compass' horn but so far we've been able to put together crews with pretty impressive experience levels for a regional airline. Don't think it'll last long since there aren't any more quick upgrades to attract experienced newhires, but for now it's nice to fly with people who know what they're doing.

3 minute stabilized approach, you are kidding right. I'd turn final at 100 feet if I had to just to get a burning plane on the ground safely.

At the end of the day, it all depends on what the weather is like... 3 minutes to join an approach and come down the glide is about right...
Just pray you never have to come down to minimums with something on fire.

FARGO, N.D. -- A 19-year-old flight attendant is accused of setting a fire aboard a commercial airplane that was forced to make an emergency landing in Fargo.
Eder Rojas, of Woodbury, was arrested in Minneapolis and charged in federal court. He is being prosecuted in Fargo.
Officials say the Compass Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Saskatchewan landed safely in Fargo on May 7, after smoke begin to fill the back of the plane. Court documents say Rojas told authorities he was upset at the airline for making him work that route.
I hope this crazy guy gets charged to the fullest extent of the law...

Well, really it's not even 4000'/min? But that's not bad for a slick jet that is designed to be hard to make come down fast.
The only place one needs to be "stabilized" is at touchdown, IMO, your milage may vary. My company does not pay me enough to stay in airplanes that are on fire.

The rumor after it the fire was that it might be the FA. It was his second fire this year and he is a chain smoker from what I heard.
What an idiot hope he has to pay back every single dollar this a hole cost the company, Fargo, and Pax's

Dude's a freaking nutcase, i'm sure there's going to be one helluva lawsuit, but instead of it being against the idiot that started the fire, you can bet it'll be against who you can get the most money from (northwest). Bet it'll read "how could they hire someone who's unstable enough to start a fire on a commercial airliner"
