Actually, if you read the full Sec. 21, the cost of fuel is one of the things listed as NOT falling under "Circumstances not under the comany's control.

In other words, they cannot furlough for the cost of fuel.

Thanks, that is a lot of help to me. I just quit at XJT last week to start at CPS next week, and I was getting a little worried for a while. I guess I just kinda wished they would have gotten rid of the whole flow-through/back issue all together. It has rarely, if ever, been beneficial to those at the regional carrier.

I agree with most of this. I think everyone was worried for a while, expecially in the last few months. It really is starting to look like this flow through could work out well for Compass pilots, for once as far as flow throughs go later down the road.

I think there were a bunch of people who wanted to come to Compass but were worried that the upcoming merger and the rising costs of fuel would put everyone on the street if NWA furloughed. Maybe we'll get more people for interviews now with the latest news....

Really? Is a flow-back considered a furlough?

Just curious, I took a job with Compass and start in a few weeks.

The pilots must be furloughed at mainline, then they are given the opportunity to flow back to Compass. So yes, it is considered at furlough.

If DAL/NWA can't furlough, why is everyone saying that going to Compass right now is risky?

Sorry new to 121

Yeah! and if the Titanic was unsinkable, why did they have any lifeboats at all? I never understood that one either :-)

You are crazy if you believe that they can not furlough if they need to.
