As for the controllers, they don't know better, you should.
Does this mean I shouldn't call my Embraer a 170 because that would be disrespecting everybody who learned to fly in the Cessna 170?
Maybe I'll just call it by its proper name: Guppy Killer.

Work it out inflight. No big deal.

I'm really not trying to single you out, I'm just sick of this tired argument that pilots are the only ones who spend lots of time on the road, and are the only ones who work holidays. It's not just us.
Agreed, it's not just us working Christmas. But some clown is saying regional pilots have no right to complain because "alot of people work harder than us for less money". I would argue that not many of them would want our job if they knew the pay and hardship involved.

We all know the EMB-170/175 is the BurritoBus.

Ahhhhhh, it is not a 175, it is a 170-200 if you want to get technical. Try looking at the registration sometime. This is why you hardly ever hear a controller referring to traffic as a E 175. Mostly called E170s.

I think what is going to happen first is, Bendo went to Comair to try and do a little of what he did with AMFA, the NWA mechanics union. Everybody has a calling in life and I guess his is simply annihilating career positions and turning them into lower paying ones that are more suited for part-time work.

Anyway, I think that's why he is at Comair now. A merge between Compass and Comair would not make a lot of sense in my opinion, because they would lose a bit of whipsaw power. Compass is already as cheap as it get and they can use this to try and force Comair to cut costs. Remember, the rules at Compass were created by NWA management during bankruptcy.
Good point. We are all speculating at this point. NWA is known for whipsawing so yeah if you look at it that way, DAL is not going to sell Compass. Besides, it will be a job protection for DAL pilots in case the economy turns sour even more and DAL starts to furlough pilots.Having Compass along with Mesaba will enable DAL to whipsaw Compass against Mesaba and Comair. This debate about CRJ900 being called 9 etc is plain silly. Most controllers just call CRJ900 a Regional jet and they call Embraer 175s as Embraer jets.I like both of them but like someone pointed out I wish they were given to the mainline and we were all flying them for the mainline instead of squabbling down here at the regional level.

Regional pay, for the most part, sucks. $21,000/year to fly an 86 seat plane? This is like going to medical school to work at a daycare centre. Actually, my buddy at a daycare centre makes more. And he gets the summers off.
