RAH wants to buy Compass
#81
Getting back to the original question, anything is possible in the airline business. It looks like DAL is up to something because Compass CEO went over to Comair and the NWA VP for Regional airlines came down to Compass as the new Compass CEO. Both men have the reputation for busting unions and slashing cost. Two likely scenarios: one, DAL will merge Compass and Comair after paring down Comair and then sell off the merged entity to a third party. Two, RAH buys Compass. This does not seem likely although you can never say never in this business. After all Compass is ideally situated for a spin off. Bottom line is if DAL thinks it is to their advantage to sell Compass to RAH, it will regardless of whether it will cause any problems in merging the pilot seniority list.
I think what is going to happen first is, Bendo went to Comair to try and do a little of what he did with AMFA, the NWA mechanics union. Everybody has a calling in life and I guess his is simply annihilating career positions and turning them into lower paying ones that are more suited for part-time work.
Anyway, I think that's why he is at Comair now. A merge between Compass and Comair would not make a lot of sense in my opinion, because they would lose a bit of whipsaw power. Compass is already as cheap as it get and they can use this to try and force Comair to cut costs. Remember, the rules at Compass were created by NWA management during bankruptcy.

They wouldn't have call the CR9 the "9" in the first place. The CR9 would be the "900" and the DC-9 would be the "9."

Well, Ill make sure I don't break "the code"...but you and everyone else who gets their feelings hurt easily better make sure you stay on top of those controllers who routinely slip up and call the lowly 900, the "9" by accident. That would be an exchange I'd love to hear!

As for the controllers, they don't know better, you should.

My feelings aren't "hurt" and neither are theirs (stop being so childish, this isn't personal), we're are just pointing out the youthful disrespect that generation "entitled" is showing to those who have come before them.

Why dont you two start a thread about this subject? This is the stupidest argument EVER!!!!! Who really cares what the airplane is called? Maybe a handful of XJ FO's call the -900 a "9", but I have never heard it. With reagrds to someone saying it over the radio, if it really was a problem wouldnt the controller or the crew question it? I think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill. We can ask 10 NWA mainline pilots what they think about it, and I would wager that 9.9 out of 10 could really care less.

I don't understand why Republic would even want to buy Compass. Merging seniority lists and everything else that goes along with a merger is barely worth it in the first place. I could see RAH buying Compasses E170's and then staffing them with their own people. That would make more sense.
