I don't have the exact timeline in front of me, but the company and ALPA are currently meeting on a regular basis with a mediator. Anything unresolved by the fall will be decided by the same mediator, who will switch roles and become an arbitrator. The arbitration is binding and the new agreement will be completed no later than November. I'm sure someone will correct me if this is wrong.

Would you happen to know what the 20 items are? Could new hires look forward to hotel and per diem in training or is that still unknown?

I think each side agreeing to the 20 items would be an absolute impossibility at this point. Another common misconception is that it's like 'baseball arbitration', which it's not. The arbitrator can pick a side or he can go with 'industry standard'.

Sounds like new hire classes to start soon.
I'd be curious how many people in the pool are still interested after a year in it.
Anywho...Welcome aboard.

Nope. It can be as many as 20 from each side. Some issues can overlap, but they don't have to.

No way to know what the 20 items will be until direct and/or mediated negotiations are complete. At that point, each side will look at the items that are not agreed to, and pick the 20 that are most important to them.
