Plenty of highly experienced military guys who have apps in there and everywhere else (for quite a long time...) and still not getting calls "tomorrow".

Guess you missed the displacement bid?

Jk

Never noticed anything funny on my end. Talk with your IOE scheduler or email CS. They control what you see in Flica

Looking for some honest info, no trolls please.

Have calls from Envoy, Compass, Express Jet, Silver, GoJet to interview. Also one with Mountain Air Cargo. I'm on the east coast, so Sky west was not really an option for me.

I need to get some recency of 121 so I can be more competitive with majors. Been inactive from flying, other than some 91 stuff, for the better part of 2 years.

I would like your thoughts on which regional to go with or should I look seriously at MAC. Thanks in advance.

Has the ship sailed at compass? Have 500hrs 121 time from years ago and debating on getting back into the game. I thought PSA would be the clear place to go but not sure anymore. Working on getting current again before I blast out resumes!

Unfortunatley that's what I'm hearing. There won't be any more upgrades at Compass. Just stagnation for a period and then ultimately shrinkage and collapse.

Your decision to come to a regional is pretty well timed. Things are moving quickly here and at most regionals. I would caution against trying to chase an upgrade however. Pick a place that you don't mind hanging out as an FO for a few years if the music stops. You will be much happier.

pylit4lyfe 10-04-2015 06:44 AM

What ended up being the final verdict with the FAI overnights? Do we only get 8hrs for a 3 day trip that's one leg there and one leg back? Or do we get the extra 4hrs making it credit 12?

How does one usually gauge how long it will take to hold a new base? I see a July hire/FO is holding SEA. Would that mean 4-5 Months from DOH? Thanks!

duhcopilot 10-05-2015 07:37 PM

In my July class, 3 of us got SEA within two weeks of indoc.

GrassstripflyerZSE 10-05-2015 08:28 PM

That was July! Everyone just got LAX. And it looks like the ones well ahead of us have LAX. Very few SEA

morerightrudder 10-06-2015 10:26 AM

Seattle is more or less at its planned size. For the foreseeable future, any SEA vacancies will be due to upgrades/attrition.

Compass Recruiting

I've been in a seriously frustrating game of tag with recruiting for about 2 months now. I've been getting e-mails telling me to call to set up an interview. But, every time I do, I just get a recording telling me to leave my name and number. I got called back three or four times and they left their name and advised to call them back again on 6923. No joy, just more recordings. Anybody have a GOOD number?

Just finished a week of interviews with SkyWest, Trans States, GoJet, and Endeavor with offers from all. I'd really like to check out Compass before making a choice but the clock's ticking. At this point I really like Endeavor and SkyWest ... any ideas there also?

Their last proposed size was 45 FO's, it's shrunk down to 42 right now I think, so won't there be a couple spots on the January bid? I think they have 48 CA at present. I still think a new hire today that wants SEA would get it within a few months if not straight out of training. You'll certainly hold a line faster in LA though.

GrassstripflyerZSE 10-06-2015 02:02 PM

Well, I didn't get it for Dec, nor did I expect too. We'll see what happens after training. I would rather sit reserve in SEA than hold a line in LA. I live 15 min from SEA! :)

Not sure if what I have been told holds any merit. However,I know of several candidates who interviewed at compass In the last two weeks who did not receive an offer; which sort of surprised me. Then to find out, compass apparently sent home several of their ground instructors through the holidays. Take that with a grain of salt, but that is some info that has fell through the cracks on my end.

The training dept is hiring half a dozen more instructors as we speak. No one is being sent home for the holidays.

Yeah but most vacancies were in LA, and a few more senior FOs from LA decided to come up so the spots went to them. I still think you'll get it decently fast. There's enough bids and movement right now it shouldn't be too tough to get, even seen a few NH get MSP before being done with training like 2 months ago.

That's not true. Lots of the instructors are flows and are leaving as we speak, with the last of them to be leaving late 2015, but no one is being sent home for overstaffing. In fact most of my class's training events don't have an instructor assigned until one picks it up from open time. There are lots of new faces in the training dept.

Maybe that means we're maintaining some sort of standards.

I'm astonished someone went from SEA to LA.

deskflier 10-07-2015 12:52 PM

if you were just finishing up training at AWAC or PSA....would you jump to Compass after securing an ATP and a CRJ Type? Compass offers a bonus for ATP candidates?

You don't need the type rating

crabinow16 10-07-2015 05:43 PM

A CRJ type rating doesn't really help you with Compass.

The first compass airplane was a crj 200. So, it very well may help you.

The question I have is, why? I have no idea who you are or what you're trying to achieve, but your post implies you're not at either AWAC or PSA. Why would you want to go through one of those training classes and then quit and start another new-hire training at Compass? Do you think having multiple type ratings is an indication of experience? Ok, maybe easier question: Is it good to have this kind of history on your resume? Is it the 10K Compass is offering? Going somewhere just to get a certificate or rating for free and immediately jumping a ship looks fishy. Trust me, it's easy to spot. Why not just pick an airline that makes the most "sense" to you and give it a shot. If it doesn't work after some time, you can reconsider. You're in the lucky position everyone is hiring and requirements are the same everywhere: ATP minima and pulse. Why would you consciously burn a bridge in such a small industry?

If you're at PSA you'll upgrade faster.

If you really want that 10k then spend 1k (not sure how much it would actually cost) and a weekend getting your atp at your own expense. It would be a much quicker option.
