Well, I just received this rejection email from Compass this morning.

Thank you for your interest in employment with Compass Airlines. We have reviewed your resume and have carefully considered your qualifications for the Pilot position. While your skills are certainly impressive, we have decided to pursue other candidates for the Pilot position.

We appreciate your interest in Compass Airlines, and we wish you the best of luck in your job search.

Thank you,

Talent Acquisition Team
Compass Airlines

I'm 26, have a four year degree, 4,700TT/3,500ME, furloughed from NetJets, ex-Chautauqua, clean record. Two internal recommendations. I now officially have NO idea what they are looking for.

Has anyone else received this email lately? Perhaps they're just cleaning out applications from before? I had applied back in November 2009, and then again recently.

Don't sweat it man, I just got that e-mail and I am furloughed frac too. It makes you wonder. My background also way beyond their mins: 6500+ TT, 5000+ jet, 6 years part 121, former corporate, charter, furloughed frac, 2 college degrees, ATP, type ratings, internal rec, clean record, on and on and on.

I'm guessing with things picking up they aren't taking furloughs anymore. Ya never know...

you might be overqualified, in the sense that they don't want you jumping ship within the year or two after paying for your type and all that training. they are looking for those who will be around for a few years. just my thoughts

Got the same email same boat as you furloughed NJA with 4000 total and 1000 121 PIC. I spoke with their rep at the recent Vegas job fair and he seemed genuinely interested in me asked several questions like, " would I be OK going back to making $24/hour" They aren't officially hiring until the fall or so I've been told maybe they are just flushing their old apps.

With Delta hiring 240 this year, Compass may be getting ready to see 25% of their pilots leave through the flow. I would think they would be starting to take a serious look at hiring. I believe the recent Delta announcement was that they expected to hire toward the end of this summer, meaning that if Compass is potentially going to see pilots leaving as early as 3-4 months from now, they would be starting to hire sometime soon in anticipation of that.

I have heard that they have hired higher-time furloughed pilots in the past, so I'm not sure if I'm "overqualified" or not. It is really frustrating for me since my furlough is most likely going to last at least a few years. It's not like I'm looking to go there and immediately jump ship. It seems like a decent place to go work for a few years. There really isn't much else out there right now anyway. Yes, DL, JB, Allegiant, Virgin America are hiring, but all 100-200 pilots each. Nothing really too wide-spread and continuous yet. In a few years when guys start hitting 65, I think every regional is going to have people "jumping ship" regardless of whether they were hired with 1,500 hours or 5,000 hours.

The hiring there is a complete lottery. I had 7 internal recs, furloughed 121 with 2300 hrs, no TPIC. My class ranged from on guy who had 1510 hrs and no recs to a fractional guy with a G5 type and 6000 hrs to a Pinnacle Captain with 10000 hrs. I have absolutely no clue how they hire.

As for wanting their pilots to stick around...why would they want their pilots to stick around? The shorter you're there, the cheaper you are and they have their own sim that runs relatively cheap.

Also, don't be completely disappointed that you got a letter. Compass pilots have been known to get a rejection letter months or years after they have been hired. One got a rejection letter after he had been a captain for 4 or so months!

Look, with Delta getting ready to hire, why not apply directly to them?

That might explain why I got a rejection email yesterday when I applied to them in 2007.

He may not want to resign his NetJets #, which he would have to do if he accepted a job with DAL. JMO.

True, but what is Compass's policy? If he had to resign it for them, why not for Delta?
