Umm... You have to have a COMM-MEL/Instr. regardless. That's a standard requirement for all the regionals or am I missing something here?

Cliff,

I have an ATP MEL, 4 year degree, 2500+ hrs pic, etc.... Just no internal rec.

You have to have all 3 because you will be receiving your E170/190 type rating. If you do not have an ATP you will be getting one with your type rating. Required per the contract.

Hi!

I don't have any of the three: Comm-MEL, Inst-Airplane, or ATP written.

I took my ATP written in 06 or 07 but been at a regional the whole time which means that it doesn't expire. Does the 24 month clock still count to my situation or although I have current ATP written should I be fine? Thanks.

No, your written expires after 24 calendar months! Period. However, FAR 61.39(b) allows you to use an EXPIRED written test if you are employed as a crew member under 121/135 and use it part of a training program (upgrade).

(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraphs (a)(1) and (2) of this section, an applicant for an airline transport pilot certificate or an additional rating to an airline transport certificate may take the practical test for that certificate or rating with an expired knowledge test report, provided that the applicant:

(1) Is employed as a flight crewmember by a certificate holder under part 121, 125, or 135 of this chapter at the time of the practical test and has satisfactorily accomplished that operator's approved

(i) Pilot in command aircraft qualification training program that is appropriate to the certificate and rating sought; and

(ii) Qualification training requirements appropriate to the certificate and rating sought;

Not sure if the policy at Compass has changed, but from what I remember, last year they required you to have a current ATP written for the interview.

I think the only way you can keep your ATP written current indefinitely is by holding an ATP certificate.

I was in the same situation as you, and I was told that I needed to retake the ATP written before the interview. Knocked it out in a few days. Better to have it and know, than to hope that it carries over...

How is that possible when you have flown the DC9 for hire?

Huh!? I will give you the Comm-MEL, if you have a ATP MEL, you have a Comm-Single Engine, don't you have an ATP? If you do, then you have an Inst-Airplane(included, no extra cost), have an ATP?, then you don't need an ATP written. I think you reading WAAAAAY too much into the requirements Cliff.
