I've never heard of companies paying your way to come to work but please list some if you know of any.

I'm pretty sure for any training that takes place out of your domicile a company will provide positive space to that training event. But expecting a company to positive space you to your domicile?! That's ridiculous.

The airlines I worked for allowed for company sponsored travel for indoctrination and all training on our system when required. At times, we were given tickets on OAL if we didn't fly there. Sorry that your company does not do that for you and I am not so sure why you are so upset about it. Now, majority of us didn't always need the benefit, but it was there all the same. And by the way, the place where indoc is held may not necessarily be your domicile. As an example--American Eagle (1991)--Indoc/Ground School in DFW (Company Tickets), Sim in Wilimington (Company tickets), A/C check in Boston (Company tickets).

And once there was this airline that made you buy your own type rating before they'd even hire you!

Everyone who is coming to Compass knows this in advance. It doesn't seem like you're trying to work here so there isn't much use in humoring you. Let's move on.

MSP is considered your base. So they don't provide transportation to MSP for training. If you do sims in STL or DAL you will get positive space. However it will be from MSP to that location. Its really not a big deal, it's a great place to work.

Our class didn't have our badges ready when we got to orientation, so the company bought everyone tickets who needed them. So you won't be screwed if you just buy a one way.

This changed a few years ago. When I got hired at CPZ, I received a POS ticket to and from the interview and to orientation. This changed because all of that travel was on Delta to get to MSP. A few years ago, Delta suspended ALL non essential travel from DCI Carriers because of abuse by one of their DCI Carriers (rumor was SKW). We couldn't even get POS tickets for Union business. The rumor was that SKW was using Delta to reposition crews that were flying United and Airways feed. So they technically did not fall under the DCI banner. So Delta said no more!!!

Ok, so then Compass should pay for the ticket. That's ridiculousss.

I agree, but this is Trans States that you're dealing with. Also, it's a regional airline. When their staffing gets critical enough, they'll probably change that. Just like hotels during training.

Point well taken. I think it's now well established that Compass does not offer tickets for joining. New hires know about it, and we all do too thanks to the information on this forum. On a positive note many regionals are offering other benefits which were not previously ever on the table.

Wait, what? Am I a reading this right, you have to buy a ticket to show up for class if you don't live in MSP?

no...you just had a bad nightmare. Now you can go back to happy land at SKW and forget everything you have read for the past 3 pages about COMPASS NOT PAYING FOR YOUR TIcKET TO SHOW UP TO ORIENTATION.
