Disclaimer on above post: that doesn’t mean I’ll blindly accept an expired tag.
I’m just curious if our manuals direct us to check those status stickers. Because I haven’t found it

They do have an expiration date, it’s in 2026 or something like that for most of them, at least the AA birds.
Now can someone please reference where it says we are supposed to check their expiration date? I’ve looked in the AOM and FOM, can’t find anything about it.
The only place is the GOM, which doesn’t cover the pilot duties.

In think we should have some AOM guidance on what we check as to the “Status”.
For example: The fire extinguisher has a few inspection dates that need to be listed, but the life vest only requires one. Both items use the same sticker. So how is a clueless pilot supposed to know which dates are required to be written. With some knowledge this can be figured out, but maybe that shouldn’t be assumed to be understood.

Godspeed fellow brethren. Still makes me angry your union leaders extended the cba with no pilot input.

That makes sense.

There’s a little info in the GMM on It, like a table that discusses what needs to be on It. Want to start a delay? The fire extinguisher is suppose to have the actual weight listed by the bullet that says weight, straight from the GMM. Had an FO point this out so I called called mx, told me it wasn’t needed, referred them to the GMM because i was clueless and just want a legal airplane, long story short mx had to fix It ... had no idea about this but it’s in a manual we have, and I was shown it was needed, not much of a choice. Food for thought if you have that 117 coming up and want that layover. I just think we should fix the stupid stuff here before It gets out of hand.

Are we really trying to find any way to not fly? Obviously we want legal aircraft as it is our job, but that's really nitpicking to create an issue. No wonder our performance sucks. It's like when we write up dumb NEF items in Geg at 5 am when maintenance is 45-60 minutes out and it can be handled upon arrival in base very quickly.

With everything you do...you should be asking yourself "would I do this at Delta?". Purposely trying to time yourself out nitpicking a GMM/AOM reference just to stick it to the company is kind of a Delta Bravo thing to do.
