maybe you can get the union to publish the map
I'd be really upset if my Union rep was sharing my address with the entire pilot group.

I don't think individual addresses is what he means. More like what cities our pilots commute out of. I think it's a great idea.

It's been addressed here but it hasn't been addressed by the union which is the problem. It's incredibly annoying that in Seattle we have the same threshold as LA. We'd need over 20 on reserve to go green. That will NEVER happen in Seattle. It really needs to change.

On top of that, it shouldn't just be based on base. It should be a ratio based on the quantity of flying at a given base on a given day. A default 20 min is overly conservative even in LAX for every day of the year. The company is really winning on this one with little to zero contest.

There is zero contest because there is nothing in our contract to dictate that level. The company could set it to 100 if they felt the need to sadly.

As I suspected. Frustrating that they would over complicate the language on something like the recovery portion and omit something as important as this.

The recovery language needs to be read by an aviation attorney just to be understood. Apparently it was written by someone at NWA and has never changed.

It could be so simple, like down to 2 paragraphs. If displaced for a trip, you're put on LCR with a reserve time starting at your original showtime and cannot be finished beyond your original finish time unless the pilot consents. Pay protected for the original credit or higher flown. Plain and simple. There is no way that a pilot awarded a trip should have to call in and possibly be given a 2 hour call out.

+1... For the record I have never called in. And being given high speeds and other garbage flying on recovery is complete BS. I'd rather fly my awarded trip.

The contract mentions the union may meet with the company upon their request to discuss current staffing. Might be a great opportunity to discuss required reserve coverage and attempt to negotiate some relief.

Our contract has a large number of vague/confusing wording that leaves room for loopholes and exploitation, as well as weak points that make me wonder 'how'd that ever get agreed too?' Coming from XJT, I was really surprised at how poor a large portion of our contract is (the recovery concept/portion being one, pro-rating days off for vacation month is another.
