FWIW, recruiting still claims 50 hr ME, so that memo might not have gotten around.

Doesn't look like bypassers went too deep. This job isn't that difficult so if you've been on property for 1000 hrs and haven't figured it out, well, that's on you. Training department will determine who "belongs" in that seat and who doesn't.

7/16/15 hire for the most junior spot. Probably on the line for 11 months and knows the airplane by now. Don't see the problem, far better than the guys upgrading with 150 hrs in the plane not so long ago.

I would say there should only be two airlines I'd look at if I was coming in. Endeavor or compass. Compass doesn't have a bonus. $36 first year pay. And 1.5 year upgrade. I think CPZ has better bases and a better aircraft. I suppose if you're an east coaster CPZ doesn't look good. We don't have issues hiring so we don't need to offer a bonus. As numbers change TSH CEO will reevaluate competitive bonuses and possibly introduce one again.

Have they seen enough weather deviation planning? Enough icing scenairos? Good decision making when holding and diverting? Has any of them experienced an emergency yet?

It's not about time in the airplane, it's about experience. 1000hrs of 121 isn't 1000hrs of experience. Each award I see 2-3 if not more, that have no business being a captain. They barely make it as FO's. So many FO's just sit on their hands and do not make any effort to try to prepare themselves for what's to come. Buffalo crash captain had way more than 1500TT and way more than 1000 121 time and look what happened to them. Anyone can prepare for training, get gouges, etc. Apparently we have a lot of people showing up to 12mo unprepared and unable to pass. I don't disagree that people upgraded with little time in the airplane, but at some companies people upgrade into an airplane that they've never flown. You can't study for all of the quick things that happen on the line.

+1. They're probably the ones that won't accept a visual approach unless they have a plate to tell them exactly what to do

The only damage I heard about recently are DL birds 625 and 616. 625 is still down. Unless you're talking about the bird strike one of the AA birds took a week or so ago?

I just don't think it's fair or smart to paint everybody by the same brush.
