You're correct, you can't pick up open time when you are sitting reserve. It has to be assigned to you. If you pick up on your day off you will get it above guarantee, even if it's from trade board. You just have to make sure that it's coded correctly (OTA-call C.S. and make sure). I learned this from experience and talking to the correct people, after first talking to the wrong people. One last question regarding proper coding for open time pick up...where do we look to make sure that picked up trip was coded correctly?

Departments > Flight Ops > Payroll (left hand side bar) > Settlement Paycheck > Generate Report

So assuming you emailed Trip Trades to have it coded properly, you'll then want to go and check the Settlement Pay Period information when it gets posted on the intranet. There it shows all your pairings for the month, what each of them paid, and how they were coded. Itll be in the Payroll area of the Intranet.
