Comparing these two is like apples and oranges and salaries would WIDELY vary. 85k for a low time guy who's gonna need a babysitter is pretty good IMHO.
Exactly Dude, This was the best way to explain this, I don't know about you all, but I think Global Express/GIV/V jobs aren't so easy to get, AND not all of the operators of these airplanes mean they are the best jobs in the world, where as a Gulfstream 550 or a Global Express might be the creme of the creme and I completely agree they should be the best paying jobs, a non qualified pilot having the oportunity to be hired to fly these babies is not in the position to bargain his salary. I was in a similar position, with 800 hours total flight time, and got hired to fly a Falcon 50 as an FO, surelly my salary went up from what I was flying before, but wasn't even near to the top of the salaries of Falcon 50 pilots, they typed me, qualified me, there was a lot of things I didn't know, they don't teach you at flightschool many things that you have to learn in Corporate aviation, it is FAR BEYOND what airline pilots know how to do, international experience doesn't involve just ''how to fly there'' like it is usually in the airline pilots do, (I mean no offence and I respect the airline people a lot) but there so many things in corporate where you are pretty much on your own, all by yourself, especially in international operations!
I do think experienced and qualified pilots worth more and should stand for it, but to get there you have to deal with lot's of crap, at least you usually have to.
I just think there are good Global Express/Gulfstream jobs, and there are bad ones, just like everywhere, if you get an oportunity like that, and that's what they pay, I don't think you'll affect the market with it, the pilot job market depends in so many other things, like offer and demand, the kind of people who own the plane; if they don´t pay much, it 's because they pretty much will get what they pay for, especially if you are going to learn things here, rather than show them how to do things. And yes, there might be something fishy about this job; you bet, you might have to do a lot of things other than sitting down and flying, but that's what corporate aviation is all about, at least when you start.

Regards

Ugh! BlastBoy.

Your arguments are the same idiotic arguments we've been used to listen to from newly graduated pilots for years. These pilots, happy to finally be getting a paycheck for flying are part of the problem. You are part of the problem.

You can make 85K doing almost anything else, and you would be home every night with your wife and kids. You can drive a truck carrying toilet paper from state to state and be home every weekend.

I don't mean to insult you. I only say this when I mean it.

"Idiot -
[id-ee-uh t]
noun
Informal. An utterly foolish or senseless person:

Psychology. Aperson of the lowest order in a former and discarded classification of mental retardation, having a mental age of less than three years old and an intelligence quotient under 25."

Sir, you may be an idiot.

Blogging on this forum? If you are proactive in changing what you're complaining about, then maybe you'll earn my respect, but certainly not by calling anyone a "loser": An educated remark by a GV pilot, by the way.

Sure 85K is a lot for me because guess what, where I live 85K can get you a couple of houses and all the rest of the stuff that I don't really need. I don't live in VNY and I dont want to either. Look, you take your job, and I'll take mine. I see the big picture but I also know that nothing I say or do at this moment can change anything because I am in no position to do so. Until that time, 85K is going to be a lot of money for me. Maybe not you, but for me it is.

$85k to fly a Global is pathetic, but there will always be people that take that "just to fly a jet". Hopefully with the experienced pilot supply starting to dry up, these operators will start to improve their pay scales, but its going to take a while.
