Sorry to have to be this harsh.
You raise a valid point, but that logic does nothing to help the more experienced pilot looking for a job flying the same plane tomorrow. He should be charging the market rate, and then more as his experience grows, IMO.

To the OP, don't sell yourself short because you have 1000 hrs. We all had 1000hrs at one point. I very much doubt they're requesting your services out of love. When they bought a plane, they knew they'd need to pay for a pilot. If you're going to negotiate pay, better to start too high than too low.
