The pilots union reached a tentative eight-year labor contract with management.

The Union has been in concessions talks with management for a year. The MEC has reached a Tentative Agreement with Management and the Union has elected to pass this to the pilots for a vote. By the way the Union Pilots, well they are on special company paid assignment so in reality the company reached a TA with the company, just saying!

8 years long? What airhead smoking a hooka pipe would sign a contract for 8 years? Why not make it 20 years just for grins?

its not only a contract, it comes with a much much better ASA. I will vote for it, in hopes this place is propped up for 8 more years, and by then most of us are gone or on the way out. The goal is to prop this place up long enough to get all the CA to AA and all the FOs to the left seat for 1000 hours, or at least that is my take.

Page 5 of the TA states that AA has a Flex Option to still release 20 aircraft per year for both 2014/2015 and 10 in 2016. If not replaced, financial penalties will be paid to the Association.

If AA decides not to replace the aircraft, AA agrees to one-time penalty payment of $250K per aircraft uncovered in 2014, $155K per aircraft in 2015 and $100K per aircraft in 2016 Any of the above penalty payments will be retained as a credit to the Association. The association will have the discretion concerning how this credit is used.

By the time this is over we will have gone 24 years without a Section 6.

So ALPA gets money while we lose flying and have guys on the street.

You realize that this was the same attitude that people took in 97, last I check they are still here at Eagle.

The last contract was 16yrs, but after 8years it started to turn bad for the company and good for the pilots. Management must know that 8year will be the sweet spot for squeezing every dime out of the pilot group.

So you're saying send your captains to the most financially unstable airline in the US while upgrading new captains on lower pay? Were you a Great-Lakes-o-nomics major?
