Default SIC requirements?

If I have a commercial multi is there anything else I need in order to fly as legally required SIC in a Citation that requires 2 pilots?

Or is the commercial multi all I need as long as we are flying in the US?

I read the FAR on this and it's a bit confusing to me..

I don't have an SIC type rating (yet) but we did do the 3 take offs and landings already.. So I'm working on it.. But how would I do 3 take offs and 3 landings anyway if you need the SIC type rating in order to do it? Chicken and the egg??

Someone help unconfuse me..

FAR 61.55 is your friend. You need ground training specific to type, the 3 take-offs and landing and engine-out take-off, go and landing. That is what you need to do BEFORE carrying passengers, so it can be done. No chicken, no egg. The SIC type is required ONLY to fly outside the US, otherwise just log the training items in the FAR.

Also, you do have a instrument rating?

Remember that the guy who is type rated in the airplane can "teach/CFI" in that airplane. He will do your 3 bounce n go's.

Enjoy the ride!!

Just to add a couple of fine points...
The stated qualifications must have been done in the previous 12 months, the landings have to be full stops, and don’t forget CRM.
Here’s the verbiage of the reg:
……….type of aircraft for which second-in-command privileges are requested, which includes—
(i) Three takeoffs and three landings to a full stop as the sole manipulator of the flight controls;
(ii) Engine-out procedures and maneuvering with an engine out while executing the duties of pilot in command; and
(iii) Crew resource management training.

An engine-out takeoff is NOT required.

You may want to check the operator's insurance requirements as well. Some policies accept in-aircraft 61.55 experience and others require simulator training.

Good luck!
