It was a big weekend. Maybe next weekend we hit a half million people a day.

Yeah I wonder what their plan is. Even if they have one it probably lacks detail. Might be aimed at getting rid of the police union? Way out of my wheel house, but lots of folks believe that's the best way to bring whatever reforms they're looking for....

Back on topic....

One thing I've noticed is Tuesday's seem to bounce around the 14-Day MA and Saturdays around the 7-Day MA. Also, last week's slump appears to have been just a holiday week reset.

Or it could be that the average is a result of the combination of the two, since weekend travel is higher and mid-week is lower.

For an interesting exercise, compare the standard deviations of the day-of-week averages between 2019 and 2020, controlling for the growth seen during that period this year. The stddev is larger for this year, even after controlling for growth. No way to prove it based on this data alone, but it would be consistent with a discrepancy in the recovery rates of leisure vs. business travel.

I think that might tie in with your observation.

Default TSA numbers above 100k seven days in row

Yesterday’s numbers were up 26%+ week-over-week.

Here’s an interesting number regarding Allegiant and TSA numbers.

One of the strongest weekends for Allegiant was the Memorial Day holiday. Drew Wells, Vice President of Revenue, said that Allegiant flew about eight percent of all travelers going through a TSA checkpoint this year. Last year, that figure was about two percent.

There is reason to believe that single type airlines (and perhaps Alaska which appears to be headed back to a single type airline) with little if any international flying will have a serious advantage over the Big Three in the recovery Phase unless the International flying comes back more rapidly than expected. WN management has already indicated a desire to seize a higher share of domestic flying.

I think it’s safe to say you can leave Alaska out of that equation, management is so inept they can’t even put a coherent plan together and stick it to it for more than a few days, let alone grab any opportunities that may come along.

Does anyone have rough numbers for the years before 2019 ?
The 2008-2012 numbers could be interesting to compare 2 poor economic periods.
