Their career would be over regardless of whether they were right, or wrong. Furthermore, there is no reason to take any position with Covid, because it doesn't matter, politicians will make the ultimate decision based on their own agenda.

Yes because it’s that easy.
The “draconian” measures have nothing to do with anything. They tried to save their limited population, which they have.
Now as far as herd immunity, here we go again....
Who goes first? So you’re saying let kids get it, school children because it’s safe. Ok there’s mass infections, schools keep going even with sick kids left and right. What about the parents, friends and family that might be at risk? Right you’re saying somehow they’ll be sheltered as higher risk.
18 to 40 year olds? I guess they’re still safe. What about the fact that many are fat or obese? Probably some of the most unhealthy young population in the world. Or what about the fact that this population is occupying most of the hospitals now, even though technically they should be over it like the flu??
40 to 60? I guess they’re more at risk and according to your comment they should be sheltered anyways if someone’s at risk.
Lastly regarding the population, how in the world will you get these people to comply with segregated exposures? How do you know all these age groups aren’t still holding a big party in the neighborhood?
Also how come no actual immunologist that matters has advocated herd immunity?
And let’s assume that we do it your way. What about the danger of all the unknowns? Like will there actually be a heard immunity after killing all the people to get there. Will antibodies actually last. Will this disease that’s different from the flu damage this population?
Only way to battle this until the vaccine is available is to keep doing what we’re doing and making sure people follow the guidelines. The more we follow the quicker this will be over or manageable to the point where the vaccine can end it. I find it ironic that you are against the vaccine but are willing to kill off people. Your still posting that it won’t be here. Let the vaccine happen, give it a chance. No need to scour the internet for anti vaccine articles.

NONSENSE: EVERY immunologist advocates herd immunity. The difficulty is how we get there without a vaccine.
And what if vaccine is NEVER available? That is not beyond the realm of possibility.
in the meantime...
The Big Ten just cancelled football. This $h/t just got real:

Can someone help me understand?
Why do we need to social distance and mask up? CDC guidance is clear. If you can’t social distance (<6’ for 10 minutes), then wear a mask.
Just about everywhere requires both social distancing and mask wear.

I think it must be some sort of a religious thing, like wearing a veil to show your virtue.
.....
and yeah, Big 10 football is pretty week, but the PAC-10 has pulled the plug now too. Can the SEC be far behind?

At grocery stores and other public places, it's pretty hard to maintain that perfect 6 feet on a consistent basis if there's any kind of a crowd, so the mask offers an additional layer of protection. The water droplets we expel when speaking also can travel further than 6 feet, so 6 feet with no mask isn't necessarily guaranteed protection. Even with masks, some water droplets do escape, but the amount of water droplets and the distance they travel is limited by the mask. Hence the 6 feet AND a mask is better than one or the other which is better than nothing at all.

Hey, some idiots are requiring masking when you are zooming from home.

I feel like the concept of redundancy should be pretty easy for a pilot to understand.

These folks at the CDC are scientists after all, aren’t they?

"Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others
- You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
- The mask is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
- Everyone should wear a mask in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
- Masks should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
- Do NOT use a mask meant for a healthcare worker. Currently, surgical masks and N95 respirators are critical supplies that should be reserved for healthcare workers and other first responders.
- Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The mask is not a substitute for social distancing."
not sure where you heard that the CDC said one or the other.
