As far as your above quote, the only difference between Trump and every other politician is that unlike every other politician, Trump dares to be an ********* in public while the real politicians have spent their whole life hiding that aspect of their personality from their constituency.
”Those people?” I’m not familiar with that term. Is that a dog whistle for something?

The disconnect seems to be that you don’t understand that EVERYONE takes a risk of getting CV by leaving their front porch. If the second person doesn’t want to risk getting sick, then they should elevate their mitigation measures. You are correct that it’s “not bad luck that the second guy got it.” It’s calculated risk.
Life is inherently risky. The real debate is, who responsible for your personal safety and well-being, you as an individual or collective society?
The collective will protect you as long as it’s expedient to do so. Individual reliance tends to be more... reliable, but often lacks desired resources.
Really, that sums up everything in this country. People hate Trump and call him various manifestations of Cheetos because he’s a proponent of the individual.Hollywood, social media, professional sports, bureaucracies, etc promote the collective, which offers safety in numbers and has an effect on mass psyche. However, in the opinion of approximately 73 million Americans, collectivism has crept into aspects of our lives way beyond what the framers intended, and has become a fear-fueled vehicle to wealth and power for many politicians (“if you don’t vote for me, Paul Ryan is going to roll Grandma off a cliff”).
As with everything in nature, there will be winners and losers.

Oh and by the way, 82 million Americans are looking for a more 'hands-on' approach to COVID.

Oh ok, is it about Trump and the democrats or actually doing/caring about what’s right in a pandemic?
Are you saying the first guys disregard and individual choice to be ok with infecting others is just a “risk” the second guy should accept for leaving the house? It doesn’t work like that, in a pandemic. Only way to get through this is with collective will.

Lightning round: (1) are you obligated to modify your tone and content, or (2) should I stop visiting the forums if the banter is emotionally distressing?
Go.

Well, Biden is a very “hands-on” guy. There’s lots of documentation of that in the media.

Individualism vs collectivism is a spectrum. Where we [should] civilly exist on that spectrum is the debate.

Remember trump mocking a journalists disability on live TV as his supporters howled with delight? He thrives on cruelty. That’s just who he is and people worship him for it. Seriously, the lack of empathy among modern humans is what will be our eventual downfall. Nature is cruel just because that’s just the state of the universe. Humans are cruel because they enjoy it. I’m apparently too stupid to figure out how to post an image, so here’s a link.

You’re obviously confused by politics and see what you want to see. Nobody is treading on your rights. People were against speed limits too once upon a time, they found them infringing on their rights to drive as fast as they wanted. It’s a pandemic, if you don’t see that clearly we need to rely more on each other, at least all be on the same page, then good luck to you.

Ayn Rand is a textbook example of decrying the welfare state, and then went on to receive benefits herself. We call that being a hypocrite.
Speed Select thinks we should all fend for ourselves. And that if you die from COVID, then you deserve it for being inferior. And he will continue to believe that, until he's the one being hooked up to the vent. Then he'll be begging the doctors for all the special sauce treatments that Trump received. Sorry Speed, no Regeneron for you.

I wear a mask anytime I’m within, or could be within, six feet of people outside of my immediate family, I wash my hands religiously after touching common use objects, and I’ve generally ceased all leisure travel. I’m even a vaccine volunteer if the FAA green-lights it. This is the level of risk mitigation I find appropriate for this pandemic.
What else would you like me to do? Surrender my livelihood? Yell at people who’s mask may have slipped off the bridge of their nose? Remember that spectrum of individualism vs collectivism I mentioned earlier? I’ve just revealed my happy place on it to you.
