Listen, son. I’m sorry if you have no virtue but even with all of your logic fallacies and willfully ignorant claims, the end result if that if everyone did it that lives would be saved? Sorry you would be willing to kill the elderly and retired (aren’t you in that risk category? Also it can kill the healthy and young). But I’m not. And all it takes is wearing a human decency signal on your face and not being selfish and cruel.
Follow the science. The CDC has validated masks reused over a period of weeks between cleaning don’t work to stop the spread of anything.
If I was trying to sell the mask idea to the public, I’d probably go with “Personal Protection Equipment.”
Marketing 101: Its all about how your product makes people feel.
Can you also define human decency? Is that like doing things that have no real substance but make people feel good with little personal effort? Or is it more like holding vigils outside of abortion clinics in an effort to save the lives of our most precious resource?
Maybe I just don’t “get it.”
Thanks for your empty virtue signaling and false claims, tho. You speak from a real position of privilege. I can tell.

“Human decency signal?” So you agree that the mask is for show and nothing else?

And no I’m just using the only language y’all seem to understand. You all get it. You just choose to be willfully ignorant.
And where the hell did the abortion stuff come from? Do you hold vigils outside of clinicsdoes that do anything other than make you feel better and torment the life of woman making a difficult decision? Isn’t that just virtue signaling? How the hell can you claim to be pro life while dismissing the lives that could be saved with masks and taking covid seriously?

If we ACTUALLY "followed the science", parks wouldn't have been closed over the last year, people wouldn't wear masks while outside, children would have been back in school across this country months ago, people two weeks past their first COVID vaccination wouldn't need to wear masks because they're 80% protected from infection, and people would choose to get vaccinated because of how safe and effective COVID vaccines have proven to be in the last four months.

Thanks Dr. Fauci. Among us serious critical thinkers, you’re singularly responsible for delegitimizing the scientific method for entire generations. But hey, you’re People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2020!

Lol! Who is telling you not to clean your mask? Do you not do laundry either? That’s pretty nasty.

You brought up the point about human decency, not me.
Heres your answer to the abortion question: don’t kill a baby. Tormenting decision made.
I can be pro life and indifferent towards masks because science both says babies are living human beings and that masks have no effect on stopping any virus. Brah, follow the science. It’s pretty easy to understand.
Or are you one of those “if she floats she’s a witch/flat earth” people? Because that was what “science” actually said at points in human history.

On another forum I visit there was an anti Covid vax guy who was spouting about how almost 1,000 people had died after receiving at least the first dose of one of the vaccines. Of course if you actually researched the data it turns out even if you died in a car accident or died of natural causes other than Covid (lots of old people getting vaccines), the vaccine status was still noted. And of course if you looked at this dude’s post history, not all that long ago he had been going on about the suspicious reporting of COVID deaths. But now, as soon as deaths fit his agenda it was gospel truth.
I do believe that not every single COVID death has actually been reported accurately, but that being said, there are people really dying of COVID and it’s definitely a much bigger number than 1,000 people whose deaths have no proven link to a jab in the arm. So yeah, after all that rambling my point is I think the anti COVID vax wackos are just as off their rocker as the “not a single death more, lock down everything until we all live” nut jobs.

Great Post. First one I’ve seen on this thread for a while. Both sides are so entrenched in their ideology that this thread is a great example of what our country is going through right now. Thanks for bringing a level headed response to a entertaining (because of how ridiculous most of these responses have been) discussion..
The trouble rests with the whole concept of “ideological divide.” “Ideological divide” presumes relative moralism, which is a logical fallacy, and generally what’s wrong with this country. If everything is acceptable, then nothing is unacceptable (to the point that it infringes on your relative power over others). I suspect the 99% agree on just about everything when put in the context of real life. Positions are taken, however, for political, social, financial expediency because at the core we all know it’s “survival of the fittest” within our communities.
In other words, “wear a mask” because I’m betting this is the tribe that’s going to protect me (socially, for instance) if things really get bad. People know masks don’t work (how did I get a cold this season despite my disciplined mask wearing and mitigation). This is all about aligning with the perceived power advantage.
If there is any ideological divide, it’s collectivism versus individualism. “My face, my choice?”

No. There are a lot of good posts in all of these threads.
