Get ready because a lot is gonna happen in the next several weeks. I personally think it's gonna get ugly. A whole lot of lawsuits flying around all over the place.

The lawsuits over vaccines is something that has already played out in the courts. Im not worried about that. Also, mandates have had like 99.9999 compliance at UAL.

What is going to be ugly is filling all these lines after this wave of resignations and Aviate. Going to be a serious CA deficit. I expect the large bonuses to comeback and for DEC to be hired.

Some initial lawsuits have played out. Other cases are being built all over the country. Teachers, nurses, pilots/FA/cabin crews, military, etc. are all building cases at this moment.

I do not believe UA is near their "reported" 99.999% compliance, either.

We will see how it all plays out, but I believe there are a lot more people out there that are not going to comply with these mandates if they stay in place. It will be bad when airplanes sit because qualified crew will not be on them.

Default Get vaxxed

Well given our current SCOTUS, anything is possible. In Texas they have the "right to work" which is double speak for, the employer has the right to fire you. I dont think ALPA or any union will side with folks trying to get out of a safe vax that prevents the single largest threat to our industry. TONS of us were laid off or furloughed because of the virus and now there is a vaccine. If this vax was bad they would be giving it to poor people, not rich CEOs and Politicians. It may not be perfect but its better than the alternative.

Covid-19, for crew scheduling difficulties, it is the gift that keeps on giving.

Furloughs, massive hiring exacerbating the retirement wave, mandatory vaccination resulting resignations.

You mean terminations, not resignations right?

Or mandatory resignations. You are given a choice. You WILL resign or we will terminate you.

Is there a difference in unemployment insurance?

Is one perceived worse than the other, when you apply for your next job?

“Did you leave your last job or were you fired?”

Unhappy I seriously don’t know what to do

So, I don’t want to get the vaccine. I’m not some nut job, I just don’t like how it’s being pushed so hard and now being forced so hard by so many executive orders, how any deaths tied to it are being squashed and ignored, and the fact that even if I get it now, they’ll just move the goal posts and require bi-monthly boosters or whatever. It won’t stop here. I’ve been hoping to put off getting it until someone with actual power stood up to the mandates and maybe something got rolled back. But if they’re doing anything, it’s taking too long. And Biden is declaring things left and right. I’ve known for a while (I say that, but it’s really only been a handful of weeks, sh*t’s changing at such an accelerated rate) that I wouldn’t be able to advance my career without the vaccine or things dying down, whatever that looks like, but now I’m going to have to either sacrifice my morals (at the very least, my wife is convinced I’ll be one of the ones who drop dead 2 days later) or my career. This is the only real thing I’ve done so far in my 30ish years, I recently bought a house, and have our first baby on the way. If I quit in December, I’ll have a hell of a time finding something will pay anything close to this with my bachelors degree in “airplane flying”. I’m frankly, f*cking terrified of what’s ahead for me. Just giving in and getting the shot would make my life much easier, at least until they require constant boosters and God knows what else, but if I do, I will seriously hate myself for being complicit in this. But what am I supposed to do with a family to provide for and no better way to make money? I feel like I have no choice, which is exactly how they get what they want. I’m in an abusive relationship with the federal government, and I’m about to give in, and no one cares about me.

The number of people who have died from the vaccines (in the US) can be counted on the fingers of both or maybe one hand. Given the number of doses administered it looks safer than the flu shot, although you can do your own research for comparison. The vast majority of people who suffer adverse events, which are quite rare anyway, recover within days or weeks.

Do you have a medical reason to be concerned, or is your wife just having some facebook-amplified hysteria?

If the current vaccines are logistically too cumbersome with frequent boosters, they will be modified. Worst case, this will settle out into an annual booster to address new strains like the flu. And will most likely have the mandates removed a few years down the road (except for the people who have mandatory flu shots, like hospital workers).

Your employment options will be further limited by the OSHA mandate, and companies who opt to mandate vaccination even if they're not subject to the OSHA thing. To make matters worse, even more companies will require vaccination for new-hires, even if they don't mandate it for old-hires.

There will probably still be flying jobs in AK, as well as part 91 owners who don't care about vaccines. There's a worker shortage, so you can almost certainly find something, maybe even white-collar tele-work. From there you'd have to build a new career around vaccine mandates, and hope they go away eventually (you could even go back to aviation in that event).

It's funny United keeps saying 99% compliance then in fine print (excluding exemptions). Yeah everyone took it except the thousands that didn't.

that is just not true. Granted, a very small number to be certain, but more than ten for sure.
