I am being genuine, but will admit to staking out a more extreme example to prove the point. I think you and the proponents of this line of thinking both vastly overestimate/state the true risk of Covid to a healthy youngish individual, as well as the actual effectiveness of mitigation strategies like masks and vaccinations. Not against them per se (you do you), but I draw the line at mandates.

Didn’t “literally prevent” it in them!
Reduces the chance…not prevents the chance.

Thats if you choose to believe the people who are telling you it has a statistically zero probability of hurting you.

OK, how about the fact that as a younger healthy person, I am more at risk of dying in an auto accident than Covid...To protect me, I want them to create nation wide laws making it illegal for people to drive more than 20 mph...it will save lives...that's how off-base your argument is...

On a side note, is anyone aware now the FAA is getting around their own rule on taking experimental meds? You are supposed to lose your medical for one year if you ingest any kind of experimental meds. This seems to have been discarded as most pilots have taken the jab and as we all know JJ and Moderna are not yet approved and Pfizer Comirnaty is the only one approved (still not available in the USA). Pfizer has fully admitted that they are only distributing Biontech EUA version still to this day. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they have discarded the rules because the pressure for this thing has been tremendous. Have a good weekend.

That too is age related. For those at minimal risk, very little. Which is why approval in the pediatric community has taken so long. In the last two years about 80 active duty troops have died of COVID out of a quarter million cases, and those heavily weighted towards older personnel. To put that in perspective, the military annually loses about 500 personnel to suicide.

Your argument makes more sense than nationwide mandates. At first it was like these people were trolling us but it is clear that this is their religion. They are Covid fundamentalists and compliance is mandatory until someone in their circle gets hurt. It is sad to see people get red pilled like this but sometimes it is the only way they learn.

The FAA approved them once the EUAs were approved. A drug that has an EUA is no longer considered experimental.

I think this discussion has departed the rails a bit vis-à-vis the thread title. We are not talking about soldiers or pilots or healthy young people. We are talking about folks that take care of compromised individuals in a hospital.
COVID severity reduction equals less time being transmissible. I think a hospital has every right to require a mandate

For the Omicold, which in a matter of weeks will be the only remaining variant, no, it has not proven to reduce severity. And there are now signals that the vaccine makes you more vulnerable to getting sick with Omicron.

What are those signals? Last I saw a week ago (at least in NY), the hospitalization rates were 6 to 1 in favor of the vaccinated, not to mention the average age of those hospitalized being significantly older amongst the vaccinated crowd.
