1% Union Dues

Follow the money.
The magazine is an obvious and easy target.
but --
The magazine is the SQUIRREL !!
Its not the magazine that sucks up all the cash.
ALPA National is a massive host organism engorged with cash from our dues that supports an entire ecosystem of parasitic Washington lawyers, bureaucrats and all the other various "administrators".
If you want to get ALPA under control you have to get the lawyers under control. (and the Kitty Hawk offshore insurance business that is just a hidden way to fund more billable hours for lawyers)
Look at your DEC 31 pay stub. How many thousand$ did you send to Herndon? Did you get your money's worth? Me neither.
ALPA does not need 1.9%. That's twice as expensive as other unions.
Its time to reduce the dues rate.

Me too. I also added that one way to help get there is discontinue the magazine Air Line Pilot In its print form. That should be 100% digital. I used to read mine but it is nothing more than ALPA volunteers giving each other rewards.
That is a YUGE cost to have that printed and mailed. Not just to the 13,500 Delta pilots, but to every member of the ALPA commubity.

Hey Jerry, why aren't you trying to rally UAL and FDX pilots as well? Don't they pay the same as us and aren't their MECs the ones that put the kaibosh on the reduction? Maybe they want us to foot the bill.

Unless its changed, I do not believe the FedEx pilots pay the same dues as we do. Nor do they adhere to the seat position rep model.
There may be other accommodations alpa made in the deal to get FedEx back that I'm unaware of...
Its a relevant lesson.

You are correct, seems Delta ALPA is lonely in their desire to lower our dues.
The idiots running ALPA want UPS, SWA and American to join ALPA, but can't get by on tens of millions annually.
We are pay $100 for a number 2 pencil.
