Is it to late to let them know I'd be willing to move my vacation rather than have it delay training?
They will just liquidate it. You can then take it later or take the pay at the end of the vacation year.

I was thinking that, but then why would they even ask us if we wish to retain our vacation? Make us feel like we have a choice in the matter?

Used to not be able to keep it at all once you converted. It had to be rebid. Now you can keep it but if it conflicts with your training they can "cancel" it. Then you have to rebid it or just take the pay in April. Changed in 2012 contract, I think.

I requested to keep my vacation, and my training started the day after my vacation ended. Not sure if that was a coincidence or was as a result of my request.

I requested to train last and keep my vacation. They had me train a month earlier than some junior pilots in order for me to be done before my vacation month.

Default Another Training Question

I have training for a new position in mid April. I currently am a line holder.
In the month of March, during the bidding period, will I be eligible to bid for a schedule since I will only be available to fly for the first two weeks of the month?
Also, for the month of April, do I get paid ALV for my current category or for the new one? If not, what do I get paid?
Thanks guys.

It depends on when you convert. If you go to training mid April, my guess is you will bid your current seat for April. Your training will reduce the LCW for you, and any flying you do before you go to training will be at your current payrate.
If you convert in April, which is not likely if you are starting training mid April, you would bid at your new seat and not fly until you start training. All training events would be at your new payrate.

Thx Buckley. I convert April 1. I beat the cutoff by a couple of days. The cutoff is on the 16 of every month.
Thank you for clarifying the rest.
Now if I don't fly at all the first two weeks because I convert to the new seat in April, how much credit do I get for that month?
Thx again for the help.

You will get a prorated portion of the ALV for April in your new category for each day your schedule shows training. That will be pre-posted as credit for PBS purposes but check their math closely on the PBS pre-award because it is manually done and is not infrequently done so in error.

After the training portion of your schedule is complete, you will "shadow bid" over your OE footprint as well as for trips you are eligible to fly in the month as a qualified pilot in the category after your OE footprint.

Tip - find your OE footprint and bid as much credit as early in the footprint as you can. Those trips will drop for OE and you will be paid the higher of your award or your assigned OE.
