21 FEB AE awards
#61
Heard on a hotel shuttle there was some issue with new hire getting an A position that delayed the AE release. May have had other implications in the award as well? I don't know..... got recurrent tomorrow, I'll try and get some good rumors.

I am going to wave the BS flag on this. We didn't start recalling until the company hit the 3 month trigger that the arbitrator ruled in the FM furlough arbitration and then the company fought the definition of historic training capacity of the training department, which was also in the ruling, saying that they couldn't recall at those historic rates.

That is not what you said. You said that it expedited the return of furloughees which would lead someone to believe that we returned before the trigger was hit that was set by the arbitrator, which was a 3 month rolling window that was based on passenger count. Pretty much all it did was allow the people left on property to fly even more greenslips.

The early retirement was not a quid as the two issues were mutually independent. Not one FM1 furloughee was recalled until Richard Bloch's economic trigger was met. Once the Bloch trigger was met, the company was obligated to recall all furloughees - not just some and, IIRC, there was a provision in his decision that prevented the company from "slow-rolling" the recall.

"The quid was the company funding a early retirement program for around 600 pilots that generated lots of movement and expediated bringing back the furloughed pilots."
What I said is that although the 600 early retirements made movement, it didn't expedite bringing back the furloughees even by a day. The furloughees were brought back once the company hit the 3 month trigger in the arbitrator's ruling and that had to do with passenger loads. So saying that it expedited the furloughees return is false.
