DAL & KAL enter in transpacific JV
#12
The Japanese government threw us out of Narita and deliberately blocked us out of Haneda. Open skies in Japan: nonsense. Our government watched us get blatantly screwed and did nothing. DAL had to go to plan C. KAL and China Eastern and Seattle are plan C as I read the situation. OFG

It went sideways because KAL felt they should do all the flying across the Pacific. Since we make a lot more money when we use our own metal Delta management had a different concept in mind. What changed is KAL made a disastrous financial decision and now needs serious help.

I recall Dave Greenberg was recruited by them to try and alter the crew dynamics leading to a lot of the operational compromises.

There's just something magical about non US airlines though. They just do everything better.

Well if we bail them out, again, after singlehandedly saving their airline, we should get WAY more than 50% which is really 46% as our "half". We should get over 50% ESK's and over 50% BH's.

I've also heard KAL at one time demanded all Pacific flying and that is why we were not in such a close relationship.
Thanks!
