Another take from the site that leaked the A350 order before Delta even told it's BOD:
April 12, 2017, © Leeham Co.: Delta Air Lines today said on its earnings call that it is reviewing its wide-body order with Airbus.
At face value, the Delta statement might seem alarming. But as so often becomes the case, the “review” may not be what it seems.

Summary
- There is more activity about fleet requirements than simply “reviewing” the wide-body orders.
- Delta’s preparing to issue an RFP for single-aisle Airbus A321neos and/or Boeing 737-9/10s.
- Boeing hopes Delta will be a launch customer for the MAX 10.
- The NMA/MOM aircraft could be involved.

Do we really need a longer 737 after the 900ER? The MAX 10 does not sound appealing for any pax sitting in the waaaaay back trying to make a tight connection at ATL.

That's fair enough if its based on the sector softening. But regardless of how many we get, there is no excuse for us to not get a generous "half" of the JV flying for AM and KA. Half plus 4% of what we do now (or more) whichever is greater, sounds about right.

What's another 15 knots of Vr or Vref among friends? If significant mass on as few tires as possible was "in" wouldn't there be more obese people riding unicycles? Or at least roaming the streets on Segways? The irony-meets-reality significance of the name "Max" is duly/sadly noted! Astonishing to contemplate the little twin that phased out the Second Officer when it entered service 50 years ago seating less than our 717s probably couldn't make SEA-DFW, was born under 100,000 pounds. Now it flys across oceans with 757-like passenger loads and must be knocking on the door of 200,000 pounds. Max, indeed!
