How many NYC 88As are realistically going to ATL? I know there are plenty that live in atl and commute up but I know even more that live up there and don't want to commute outta NYC.
I'm also curious if there will be any movement on the ATL 717A as folks leave that fleet?

While Delta will take five A350-900s this year as planned, it wants to postpone deliveries slated for 2019 and 2020 by three years, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified since the talks are private.

It was delayed about 3 years, but by then NW had merged with Delta which already had 777's and 10 more on order, and then Richard got into a ****ing contest with Boeing over the 787's, the Import/Export bank financing the ME3, etc.
So Richard delayed the 787 orders until 2020, and then just a few months ago Delta cnx'd them altogether. In the meantime, Richard restructured the Narita hub (ie dismantled it) and decided to make SEA and LAX the west coast gateway to Asia.
Don't need the range of the 787 if all you are going to fly is SEA/LAX to Seoul. They are working on another JV with Korean right now.
And who needs Boeings when you can buy Airbus for less than half the price?
Richard's got a real hardon for Boeing, that's why Delta's buying Airbus.

The surviving post merger Delta CEO was Richard Anderson who came from NW, which already had a bunch of Airbus 330's and 320's. NW was the US launch customer for the 787, they had a sim and even had trained some instructors on the 787....when the 787 developed problems.

As far as who needs Boeings when you can buy Airbus for less than half the price, guess how we got the 739s? They can barely give that plane away. We bought it for hawaii and it still can't perform.... having to be pulled off of it. Good thing we got ETOPS on them!
The A333 (and 300IGW) carries the same amount of people and cargo as a 777, while weighing 100,000 lbs less. Which is the better choice for the 9-13 hour mission given that knowledge?

Some of this is true...BUT: The 787s that NW was going to get were so poorly built that they had to do rather special things to get the fuselage sections to fit. They were sitting out at PAE for years looking for hopefully someone to take their screwed up first builds.

I was looking at that yesterday.. seems to be a fair amount of guys still in Florida which would make ATL a likely commute unless their seniority is bad there no?
