Quote: Where have you read this? Haven't heard SEA is going to be the second base,
The original scuttlebutt was that the first base was going to be either LAX or SEA. It now seems that it will be LAX, so that leaves people thinking SEA will be the second. That may not end up being the case though, as the second base may be mid or east regardless of which of the two first base cities were picked.

The above is correct. The first base will be west, either SEA of LAX. 2nd base will be in the east rumored to be NYC. No VB is under consideration.

Just asked the question. If you read how VB's are allowed by the company it will however make sense. There is no way a VB for the CS100 makes sense in the next 2 or 3 years and probably never. You would have to find a city that is not a current hub, supports enough flights that reserve coverage is workable and has enough pilots in both seats willing to bid from a existing CS100 base into the VB. Pilots who bid LAX or SEA when the category opens are highly unlikely to want to commute to a VB.

They are allowed by ALPA under a LOA. And that LOA expires before they will be implemented. So, yeah your right they won't be based at VBs.

Interesting, the council 1 communication had a note about the c series bases, and it specifically mentioned a mid west VB as the next thing to open after LAX. So, did they just change their mind? Or are they really that unsure what they are planning...

It does seem odd that we keep hearing about it from multiple sources but it is not even being considered.

Did the MSP Comm specifically mention the CS100 when discussing the midwest VB?

Yes, it did

Direct quote was "C series will likely have its first base in LAX flying coast to coast. The second C series base may be a virtual base, and there are no plans for a c series base in MSP."

Sounds like 717s to MSP once the C series gets going.
