The Global 6000 cockpit is Proline Fusion like a C Series (with one less screen - 4) and yokes instead of side sticks...

The Cl300s look pretty darn sporty, got in one one time back when i was flying corporate and it seemed nice. But I had cabin envy... it's cabin was smaller than my jet and I really envied that. Got sick of hauling 1 person and their entourage of 13 others around. I really wanted a CJ1 after a while. Range limited and small is the way to go.
12 hours at M.85 is more than enough! Very automated, no pitot heat switches, anti-ice has an auto function with the ice detector. Yes, same basic panel as the C-Series, but the C does things a little differently, but “phase of flight” instead of the traditional “flight plan, SID, STAR, PERF INIT”. Said to be simpler but from my cockpit tour, it’s not a huge deal. Graphical flight planning and no FMS is nice, too. It’s all on the screens. SVS in the Global, which is real nice but there’s no operational advantage in lowered mins. Global flies nice enough, but not FBW. 5000nm off 5,000’ at sea level. Cabin sells the plane, Ka band installed and the pilots can check the weather instantly while the boss gets his emails, his wife gets to do shopping and the kids watch a streaming movie. Kinda nice.

I was in Austin as jets showed for the f1 race. Saw a Global come in, looked like the short body with big fat wing. I think the wing chord was longer than the fuselage. Slowest approach over the numbers I've seen in a jet. Very nice.

But as a former 88 pilot I am fascinated with things that effortlessly create lift. So fascinating to me and i don't know why.

Lightweight Vref can be down to about 105 knots. SL to F450 in 21 minutes are medium weights, say NY to LA.

I remember watching a global take off from PDK (not that long of a runway) a few months ago. We live 10 minutes from there and the restaurant has a porch... great for nerds like me!

Could tell they were full power from the noise... curious where they were going, so I pulled it up on flight aware. Amsterdam! Impressive...

G550 does all that with no slats! Less things to break and cram the wing with fuel.

Highly swept wings should have slats says some aerodynamists to me. They cited GLF’s history of IGE stalls as proof. A friend went from the Global to the G650, now there are airports they can’t use due to landing perf. Just sayin’ the rivalry between the two types.

OTOH, agreed the Global needs the slats to compensate for the heavier airframe and higher wing loading to achieve similar performance.

I was hanging out with a G200 crew once... the ugliest airplane I've ever seen btw... and they want slats.

That said we didn't have them on the Legacy but we weren't doing PDK to AMS. But we could pull off pDK-oregon with no problem.

appears the 76 tanker line has generated some drag on boeings numbers.

Maybe part of reason for chatter about adding pax airframes back to the line?

They were so desperate to beat Airbus that it appears they may have engaged in "dumping" just to get the deal.
