Is there a payment we need to make for extra range, like the landing weights on the 320?

fyp. The 767s all got increased gross weights due to the 787 debacle. All done with the stroke of a pen.

A Douglas instructor in LGB told us: “You bought the 160k MD-88, but only had it certified to 149.5k to save on landing fees. It would just be a paperwork change to re-certify it.”

I would think that Airbus would want to keep us happy, now that they FINALLY have us.

I'm detecting a pattern. 739 ETOPS can't make Hawaii. A350 can't make LAX-SYD. Someone at the manufacturers are over-promising and someone at Delta is getting snookered.
What was the last airplane that actually delivered what the manufacturers promised?

If the C Series is close to promised performance, both AB and BA will have to sit up and take notice. I think going forward, Bombardier is gonna be a game changer.

I believe the Cseries exceeded its performance promises. But as stated above, Delta appears not to want to utilize its game changer performance.

Also, the GTF is no where near a mature engine, that thing has major headroom to grow.

It ain't in the US yet. Let's see when it gets here. But that would make them even more of a threat to both AB and BA. They could be the SpaceEx of the commercial aircraft industry.

We are months away from its first flight at Delta and you have established we are not going to use its performance?

That wouldn't be very Delta. I think almost every airframe we have since Hauenstein stepped on the property has been stretched to it's max. I can't think of one that is underutilized.
