MD-90 going bye-bye?

If the C-Series is as big of a success as it appears to be on paper and in our collective heads, we won't have to boycott Boeing. There will be another major player in town, one that will hopefully force Boeing to innovate instead of stretch.

Relevant points from the article:
"We have had no issue with the PW1500," Bombardier adds. "We are pleased with the CSeries entry-into-service experience and engine performance."
"The CSeries and engine combination was tested much more extensively than any of our competitors, and the result we see is a much more mature product in service," Bombardier adds. P&W says the 1500G has a 99.9% reliability rate, calling the engine's entry into service "better than anticipated".
There will be a RFP to replace the MD90's in the Aug timeframe. I am sure it will include the expected delivery times. Probably 4 or 5 years out before the first swapout.[/QUOTE
IMO the 88 and the 90 will disappear much faster. They simply can't do all the training.
Today is their best and easiest day for handling the training volume.
Each and every hour it gets worse for the next decade.
I hate to be so upbeat, but the economy is going to be strong for the next decade and more. Resulting in more domestic growth making their training challenge all the more difficult.

You have been telling us the training department was going to collapse for the last 10 years. Not a single prediction on that has come true.

How many positions were posted on the AE?
How many did they fill?
Not only did they not fill over 20% of the positions, they did only a small portion of the waterfall.
Your like Kevin Bacon in Animal House.
Everything is just fine!!!!!!
They filled basically everything accept 35 crews on the A350. They will fill those on a January bid that will have a conversion window ending concurrent with the one year bid. The other stuff was the usual new hire positions. You can relax everything is fine.
