B717 ATL For New Hires

Not trying to pick a fight. You made good points but I think you are viewing it through a jaded lens. I have been subjected to what you spelled out many times. I just don't think it's more often than one trip a month. YMMV.

Fair enough. But most of those reroutes hardly ever mess with my layovers or duration of layover. And I hardly ever extend past my original checkout time (only once). I don't mind my 2-3 hour sits being used more economically and myself getting an extra hour or two of pay. One mans trash...

Btw, I'm happy to work more on a trip when it results in rr pay. My reroute luck mostly resulted in shorter layovers in less desirable locations for no extra $$$. What's the point of seniority based bidding when tracking can essentially abrogate your seniority beginning on leg 2 and it doesn't cost the company a dime in most cases if they get you home in time. Glad to hear it's 'only' once a month now. Even so, I think any deviation from your awarded trip should result in rr pay.

Me neither. Your time on the 717 has skewed your picture. Outside of stormageddeon I haven't been rerouted once in the past year on primarily domestic ER ops, once a month is fairly substantial. International guys probably cant even spell reroute.

Having said that I found that a majority of the reroutes on the 717 worked out in my favor. Defined as more pay, less work and/or better layover. Multiple reroutes on green slips which translate to triple pay.
But they can be exceedingly painful as well. Two Christmas's ago I got rerouted 4 times in one day. Culminated with a 10 hour layover in Tri Cities. Ho F?(;ing ho.

One man's garbage is another's treasure! I left the ER because I hated the long legs, all nighters and uncommutable trips that my juniority could hold. Now I get any day off I want, I get to stretch my legs and walk around every hour, I often start trips late in the evening and finish before noon, and I usually get a "free" day off every trip during a 30 hour layover.
