If the affected pilots were pay protected, they could white slip along with everyone else in a given PCS run. There would be zero contract issues. They would submit slip requests and either get them or not during the normal PCS run.

I would also support pay protecting pilots affected by PBS issues since you asked.

I am splitting the difference between you guys. I agree with Sailing that most guys would not WS if they are pay protected to the reserve guarantee. Are you saying guys getting 75 hours for zero pay would try to fly a hard 85 hours for 10 additional hours of pay? I certainly wouldn't.

On the other hand the company basically screwed these guys so I am in favor of pay protecting them - its the cost of doing business. Unfortunately that is not how our current contract is written so it is probably something that we should look at next contract.

If management decides it is in the companies best interest to have Flight Ops jump through marketing hoops that is fine - but it will come with a cost.

Scoop - Just my 2 cents.

Call it what you will. I think these guys should get 75 hours of pay without flying. If they then actually fly 75 hours, pay them 150 for the month. No different than the GS train folks who fly 75 and credit way more than that...both help the company out of a self-induced pickle.
