The seniority impact of base swaps, whether temporary or permanent is neutral. All of these glass half empty posts ignore the opposite side of the issue. If a senior pilot comes into a category and moves pilots down a number, it is offset by the pilots in the previous category who just moved up.

You have to remember that not everyone is trading into you're base above you. In fact, most of the churn occurs below the 2 year mark so you likely wouldn't be affected at all.
And if you are impacted positively or negatively, it's no different than what would have happened on an AE.

I don't think you understood.
With base swaps you lose your awarded vacation weeks and pick from what's available in the new base. With the previous system, if you swapped into a base during the bidding process, you wait till it's over and then choose from the leftovers. You can't bring vacations with you.
Where is the slippery slope here? If it is somehow being abused, add restrictions or get rid of it.

The terminology here is not precise enough.
Swap conjures one pilot trading what he has to another pilot for what HE has.
Thats a real slippery slope.
A non-training AE run semi annual or yearly is pretty firm ground. As with any other AE issues like training and vacation are already addressed.
The AE process would facilitate multiple moves among bases instead of a 1-4-1 swap between 2 pilots.
