In answer to your question, I’d say yes you are legal both FAR and contractual.

Yes as long as they give you 12 hours. What they cannot do is give you a trip while you are in rest for your impending short call

This brings up an important point. In order for you to be officially notified of anything (SC, rest, a change in pickup time, a trip assignment, etc.) it must involve some sort of two way communication. At DL, that can take many forms: for example, acknowledging a CNO text, acknowledging an iCrew pop-up, responding to an ACARS message, or talking to a scheduler. So just seeing an R on a schedule check doesn’t really mean anything.

I think, in your case, you would get a pop-up when you checked
your schedule anyway. If you acknowledge that pop-up, then you’ve been officially notified.

Yes, and by my math, you’d have to block in prior to 0200 base time.

I might be wrong but I think what he’s asking is if you can be called during your SC window and be assigned a trip that reports after your SC window would have ended. So, SC over at 2200, called at 2130 for an 2330 report.

Yes, that is what he is asking. And, yes, I think you can be assigned such a trip. Especially so if the assignment is a DH followed by rest period.

As long as your duty day is not exceeded and the requirements of the contract are met, where is the problem? I don’t see one.

No you won’t continue SC. You’ll go into 12 hours of rest. Example
10am start...call at 1030 for a 2330 show. SC is now until 1130 and then you beebop into rest for 12. It’s not common, but it has happened to me a few times. There are some tricks to avoid this, but I’ll let you figure it out...... unless you are junior to me

Default Trip Coverage on SC

Okay, another SC/trip coverage question. Yesterday, I was given SC today from 1400-0200. At midnight, they called and gave me a 3 day with a 1300 check in (1 leg today). A junior pilot with same days avail (4) and group number (1) has SC from 1000-2200. I did not have a YS, but I do have qualifiers for "if needed to fly". Why would I get the trip and not him?

With the melt down in ATL, I am not even going attempt to call CS. Any ideas?

Thanks.
