I hear you, but shouldn't there be a difference between a year 1 and year 25 pilot? Bottom line...at 80 hrs. a month/each, a year 1 guy will earn nearly the same as a year 25 guy. MD88 as an example would be $1,900 per month difference for 2 captains flying 80 hrs./mo year 1 pay as captain, vs. year 25. Makes no sense at all.
I didn't think almost $23,000 (more than $26,000 with PS and DC) was "almost the same." That's without including more days off and better schedules for a significantly higher amount of pay / day and more vacation. Nevermind that a 25 year MD-88 CA has the option of holding much higher paying equipment if desired and is choosing to bid the lower paying equipment, most likely for schedule while the 1 year MD-88 CA is bidding purely pay. A more fair comparison would be a 25 year CA bidding purely pay, who is not going to be on the MD-88. |

Since UAL and AA gave up a lot of their widebody CA positions we have a significant number more CAs per airframe than they do.

I don’t think it really matters, seniority is great for many things, I just don’t think drastic pay differences in seat need to be another benefit.

All of United's FRMS flights have two Captains. How many double-augmented flights does Delta have?
The actual comparison here should be number of CA's each company has... which is the point. DAL has a lot closer to the number of WB CAs that UA does than the airframe numbers imply. |
The junior end of the pay scales at the majors have enjoyed huge increases relative to 12-year Captain pay over the last few contract cycles.[/QUOTE]
How is that? Did we not all receive the same percent pay increases? |

I thought we paid our dues prior to Delta? I thought we were made “partner” when we came here? We need to pay our dues more? How much better is a 12 year FO than his 2-3 year coworker? 50% more, 30%?
I’ve seen the same mistakes made by all seniority levels but yes let’s give more to the senior pilot because he is senior. Welcome to grown up world. It's awesome that you saw mistakes made by others. It made you really wise, feel free to dominate every conversation in the crew room. |

Every time you are junior in any category you will feel like you are paying the dues. Yes, you will want to cry every time.

I’m in my mid 30s, I frequently get told that I look like I’m in my mid 20s, I spent over a decade at crappy regional, and I have five 121 type ratings (two as Captain). I’ve been with Big D for a little over two years.
Have I paid my dues yet? |

Nope. You’ll come to learn you are a dumb new hire until ~5 years on property.
