Actually, I know people who were overpaid before. When the company figured it out, they reconciled it by taking the money back on the next check.

Happened to me once. They were very responsive in rectifying that error. My career experience is to be underpaid by thousands annually while being overpaid by less than $200 once. For some reason that single overpayment got their attention and action much more quickly.

Bottom line, look at the bid results. Pilots bid highest pay per day. Whether they are a commuter or not.
Quite a broad brush you are painting with there.

A lot of it is the nature of how we are paid. The things that result in payment other than our standard pay are usually ones that require higher pay. It is generally difficult for a situation to arise to result in overpayment, but there are a lot of situations that can result in non standard payments and thus potential for underpayment. I'm not defending the amount of mistakes, just that the direction doesn't necessarily indicate malice.

Neglect is malicious. I disagree with your explanation. We are constantly reminded to do better and strive to improve. This has been an acceptable excuse for too long. This kind of stuff would never fly on the customer side. The experience of regularly being shorted would drive HVCs off in a heartbeat.

They should just try and fix the paystub. It's horrible that I have to look at 3 different things to verify that I am paid correctly.

1) We ARE the pay department's customers. That, in and of itself, makes me angry that we have to put up with this kind of 'customer service'.

2) Why can't we get our pay system streamlined? Is it (gasp) an IT issue? I agree that it's crazy trying to figure out what my next paycheck is going to be. I've been told by every financial guru that I must make a budget and "tell my money where to go" to be successful at money management. How on earth can I make a budget when I can't figure out what my paychecks are going to be from month to month. Don't get me wrong, I do get paid pretty well, but I can't fill out a simple month budget and PLAN how to distribute my earnings; I have to wait until payday and THEN do the budget.

You do realize that every paycheck you get is going to differ by a few dollars to thousands of dollars? And that amount can change up to the last day of the month? It sounds like you want to know 2 weeks in advance what you will be paid.

If I was into figuring out a budget and needed to know exact figures, I’d plan on getting paid the minimum so I would base my monthly budget on the reserve guarantee. Anything over that, right now, would go into an investment account labeled “Strike Fund.”

I'm old-fashioned. When the month ends I take the timecard and look at my trips. And calculate my pay. Once you get the hang of it it's fairly straightforward. With one exception: Re-route pay.

I've gotten the per diem to within $1 and the overall paycheck to within $10.

Anyone working in this industry whining about paychecks not being the exact same month after month, or pay stubs being"too complex" should probably rethink priorities in life. Talk about first world problems. Sheesh
