You have to be very careful with context. It’s no longer ok to have a Christmas song where a man tries to talk a woman into spending the night because it’s cold outside but it’s 100% ok to have a song where you beat and rape your Ho to keep her inline! The world has lost all sense of logic.

But when it works out (which it looks like it will this year), then I'll grab another 42 hours for 2 nights away.

Always been thankful to have grown up in a family that's never cared the exact date we celebrate, just that we have everyone there, which is all that really matters. I see far to many people stress about ensuring they have this exact date off, and/or fly themselves crazy trying to fill up before Christmas. Also I've seen the stress leading up to the holidays as people try to figure out how they'll have Christmas for their kids, then shuttle their families from this grandparents to the next, etc... They visit for a few hours then it's round up the kids hunny this side of the family is out of time... When we have our get togethers everyone is there for the duration with no worry of the next event, and it's awesome. Plus, with a few extra pennies, my nieces and nephews get spoiled just that much more by their uncle .
So your senior enough to bid off Xmas despite the fact that you are more than willing to work it for GS pay. Meanwhile many with small kids and inflexible family will miss Xmas for straight pay.
You are the poster child for Holiday pay!
Then you could get a premium on your bid over Xmas and less financially motivated could enjoy the day off.

Holiday Pay would solve a lot of angst about getting holidays off. I support it 100%. It wold add a lot of QOL.

Surprisingly, I'm 90+% in my seat.

Don't disagree with you there, I'm a fan of holiday pay. I'm not sure I would bid a trip over the holidays just for 1.5x pay (even the GS will be a game time decision), but the option would be nice.

100% agree. It would entice some of the more money motivated guys to bid to fly over holidays, and also lessen the burn for junior guys being forced to work over the holidays by adding a little extra reward (pay).

Holiday pay would be great but it will never happen. 10 days a year everyone working earns GS pay? Well, just throw in that pension and I think we're done here.

BTW, the other workgroups all have some form of Holiday pay, not to mention many competing airlines.

I assume you say it would never happen because senior people don't want to give up the GS benefit... but now that we've been hiring quite a bit, I think it has a chance of more of a priority. I put it as top issue each survey....and I can hold Xmas off but don't GS.

I'm fairly senior overall if not in category. I'm all for it. I manage to massage my schedule each year and get Xmas off. This year I'm on call 24-26 but being in an international category where 99% of the trips are 4 days or more, I don't think I'll be called. Possible but not probable.

I would luv to see it. As I said before, holiday pay would create increased QOL for many pilots. Maybe restrict it to 2 days before and one day after. Just the the restrictions on an APD/IVD. And before any one says it, I know those are not hard/no exception restrictions. I used my APD on the 23rd.

And that’s the one rule you’re not willing to break.......
How about leaving the light on?
It’s not like anybody abides by it anyway.
Nobody listens to the safety briefing anymore either.
Unless it’s jumpseaters or dead headers.

And it’s happy holidays for me, unless it’s Starbucks. Then it’s MERRY CHRISTMAS.
It’s a pagan party anyway.
Same as Easter.

There could always be a grumpy fed with an axe to grind in the back. That’s why I make the PA — or turn the sign off at 10,000ft when the FA’s start their PA.

It’s an idiotic rule, given the fact that the words are printed on every seatback.
