Also note that you can only slide the portion of the vacation in that bid period if the vacation straddles two bid periods. So if you get the week after thanksgiving this year, you can slide the November days in November but the December days stay in December.

Depending on the calendar and when vacation weeks start, this strategy is more effective some years than others. But it is spectacular. This is the true way to get Thanksgiving off... vacation slide. SUPP days and all that are fine but far more rare than the vacation slide tool which nearly all of us can use.

This is indeed a great tool, however you can’t slide vacation over days you wouldn’t already have the seniority to bid off. So if you can’t bid Xmas off, you can’t slide vacation over it.

There is a caveat of having to buy 7 days for the Dec bid period (PWA 7.E.4).
I emailed crew resources as I'm in the same boat, I'll let ya'll know when I get a response.
