Then don't.
(and yes my wallet and passport are in the small front pocket because I hate digging it out of my little bag when I'm at the airport ...and I don't carry it in my back pocket because it's bad for your back to sit on it, PLUS it ruins the look of my skinny jeans or business casual slacks )

Exactly, we board after 1st, EC, and SKY on the boarding pass. Sky means frequent fliers of all types and Buzz Aldrin. You will be checking your bag and proceeding to baggage claim to retrieve your bent Purdy neat bag. Or maybe it's been lost. Which means I'm not flying a 6 day trip.

Board with the 38B seat you are assigned. When you have no space to store your crew bag make the walk back to the front and ask them how they would like to deal with your bag, reminding them you can't go out on the ramp in your DH (non uniform business casual) clothes and that the FOM requires you NOT check the bag containing required documents.
As they spin out of control and sweat pours from their face because the door isn't closed, smile and remind them this would not happen if given the proper seat and boarding priority. ATL is the worst offender by far.

Sadly the easiest fix for management is to require DH in uniform and force us to put bags in the belly, rather than fix the seating/boarding priority. The problem with this is that when seated in 38B, your bag is likely to end up in baggage claim. I've actually had this happen, but it was only a small delay leaving JFK.

Southwest boards crew early, haven't ever heard a passenger complain about them allowing crewmembers to board early.
I don't know, when most people realize I'm a crewmember they say something like, "plane can't leave without you!". If they know we're on the clock, I doubt many people would take issue.
