If we're expecting flying to be back up to normal levels in 2-ish years, and we were around 1000 pilots short for this summer, furloughing 3000 doesn't exactly "add up." Just going to hire 4000 pilots with a snap of the fingers? (retirements/people leaving the list are typically almost 1.5 times the mandatory number)
Furlough 3000 plus the 1000 recently on the streets plus other downsizing. I don’t think 4000 is a hard number to hit. Training them all fast enough is a harder ask.

Again with the numbers thing... sending 25+% of the schoolhouse back to the line doesn't make this work, either. The high numbers are unattainable. Don't blink for a second that I will intentionally cause them the most training events possible should down sliding begin. Many others will follow, I'm sure. The logjams are in many places.

Video conferencing, FaceTime, Zoom, et al. Not saying a meeting did or didn’t happen but company business still has to take place while the lights are on.

Company email saying Jacobson is staying on as CFO. I’ve heard nothing but great things about him so I see this as a positive.

And Sunday. At least one fleet (A320) had a conference call on Sunday. The key fact I heard from my source is that there are no solid plans. They can't be made in a situation this fluid. My bubba said the honchos are "war-gaming" all possible scenarios.

The rate of recovery for the economy, and our industry within the economy, is a range between "A" and "Z". The decisions the honchos make will be made based upon which of their guesses seems most plausible at the time they have to make each decision.

I've rejected a landing in the flare. It was the safest course of action due to a last-second change in the situation. I expect the honchos to wait until they must make a decision, then make the safest one.

Argue definitions if you feel the need.

Sounds logical and reasonable. Is that allowed on forums?
